Link Bubble update brings all-out improvement

Nowadays, news, posts and tweets containing all sorts of app updates feed up this high technological era and you just ignore several of them, maybe most of them because sometimes, you could not keep up with them anymore. But this moment, it’s high time that you read further because this may trigger your interest and might help you easily keep up with the trendings in just a pop of a bubble.

Speaking of bubble, a new update has been announced recently by Link Bubble bringing the market air on excitement and anticipation. But for the benefit of those who are not that familiar with the said app, Link Bubble benefits Android users by letting them to load up web pages in a “bubble” that can be seen on top of the existing application like the popular visited Facebook and Twitter. The former examples befit the service of this update since these social networks concentrate on loading external content in a browser window. Also, Link Bubble also works in many conditions, making it a useful tool for browsing websites and several other operations.

The other good news that is worth mentioning is that the update also includes fixing the existing problem Link Bubble users face which is the ability to toggle the bubble from the notification bar. With the update to version 1.3, aside from the added support for Android L, and for mirroring webpage content to Android Wear, users can continue to work in the background even when the bubble is held invisible on screen, the action bypasses the background audio limitations imposed by Google.

The full change log is mentioned below:

NEW Features:
· The update lets Android Wear devices to show text content from a link. In addition, links can be opened or closed on your device through Wear.
· Users have the option to ‘hide’ Link Bubbke through the notification without having fear of discontinuance of access to the app. Thus, the action allows Youtube playback background or similar access.

IMPROVEMENT:

· Better and clearer animation when web content slides on/off screen.
· Able to restore slide-in animation the moment the first link starts to load.
· Add hack that prevents Pocket from showing up when you add links to it.
· When links are sent to external apps while running the L Preview, Link Bubble can be minimized.
· “intercept links from” works suitably for Android 4.4 and below.
· Cookies are now available in Incognito Mode, though cleared at the end of the session.

CHANGE:

· Adjusting the Incognito Mode setting enables the bubbles to open and be reloaded. Tabs from the preceding sessions are no longer automatically restored. A prompt will be displayed right away that requires confirmation to restore the tabs.
· Empties cached web data from time to time.
· Sadly, because of the Android API required for this functionality that is reduced by Google, the “intercept links from” option has been disabled for those running the L Preview

BUG FIX:
· Fix rare issue wherein not a trace of a single tab would appear on screen and pressing the device’s Home button failed to close Link Bubble.
· Update fixes issue pertaining to web contents that fail to slide on screen.
· Fix issue wherein after the Pro trial has finished, the bubble favicon is not updated.
· It fixes the issue wherein “Unable to launch 3rd party application is erroneously showed.

Link Bubble is also being discounted, for a limited time, by 50%, to $2.69 CDN. The Pro version is needed to unlock unlimited tabs, Android Wear support and Article Mode.

By up to 50% discount, to $2.69 CDN, Link Bubble will be available with a discounted price in only a limited time. The Pro version is required to unlock unlimited tabs as well as Android Wear support Article Mode.

U.S. Congress to pass law in the legality of unlocking cellphones

The law allowing phones to unlock had been legal for the previous years. Not until such law was expired in January 2013, making the habit illegal in US. Even so, many people who are not aware of this fact still unlock their cell phones for another carrier.

In case you don’t know, unlocking phones brings significant effect especially in promoting healthy competition and boosting customer choice. Service providers such as AT&T and Verizon usually lock their devices so they can only be exclusive with their service. If unlocked, the phone can be wooed to other carriers; the action gives users the opportunity of choice, including the use of travel.

To those who are not aware of it, the legality to unlock cellphones remains to be an argument in the lawmaking society, as such law can affect wide range of people in US: from the common residents to the highest position of the government.

The Congress has been struggling to pass a bill to make unlocking phones legal and finally, after many months of debate and dividing of sides, the lawmaking body has decided to pass the said bill and it is reported that the President Barack Obama himself plans to sign it.

Nevertheless, making the practice legal doesn't mean that it will not again expire. Unfortunately, when signed, the law will be effective until 2015. But not until then, one gives an impression that such laws are a bit outdated.

Motorola offers back-to-school discounts with Moto X

Motorola is still not tired of giving options to those who wants to grab Moto X, at least on some parts in the US. As school time approaches, the manufacturer incites excitement as they offer another seasonal discount promo, the timing added to the inducement to those who are still waiting for the perfect time to avail of their product.

Those who are interested to buy will find changes in the price of several Motorola products. Discounts stretches as far as $324.99. The 16 GB model is sold for only $299.99 which will give you a $100 savings. Prices were also slashed from $125 to $324.99 for both the regular and special Developer Edition. Buyers will also get $125 discount in exchange for the new 64 GB version for only $374.99. All of these devices can be found at Moto Maker, with several other offerings, such as wood back covers for their phone at $25 to flaunt at school, being sold at their regular prices.

To those who are already familiar with Motorola products, it’s no longer a surprise that Motorola does price cuts because the mentioned manufacturer has long been doing it as one of their selling techniques. What gains more attention is the dates where buyers can only avail of such products at lower prices. The Moto X continues to be in high demand for those who wants to experience Android shaded with vanilla as well as a number of context-aware features with this modest, almost midrange smartphone.

Though the promo expires on July 31, 11.59 ET, buyers who plan to buy Moto X should also take note that the above products are available until supplies run out. Considering the large discounts offered, it is most likely that these devices will be out of stock before July 31 arrives. Moto Maker Germany is not included to this promo, though, as it is only available in the US.

LG G Watch Gets Fully Working TWRP Recovery

LG G Watch is one of the smallest Android devices but it has not skipped in the hands of advanced Android users and modders been trying to add more fun by tweaking the inner Android ecosystem. Recently, you might get surprised that the TWRP recovery has now been tested and also worked on LG G watch, thought it wasn't yet highly optimized for a smaller screen but at-least at the end there is a custom recovery installed in the device that allows users install ROMs.

On the video below is the TWRP recovery has put in action and as you can clearly see that it's perfectly working using the stylus pen.  It's amazingly fun seeing the TWRP recovery in a tiny screen.

You can manually grab the TWRP recovery for LG Watch at Team Win's page and there is a new changelog going on at this moment. Just make sure to hit the source links below for the detailed step by step guide on how to install it but then again just be careful while you are into tweaking your precious device.

New Changelog as of this post on version 2.7.1.0:
-Add GUI option to change or repair file systems on individual partitions. The change is destructive so backup your data including internal sdcard first. This option should make it a little easier to migrate a device from ext4 -> f2fs, for instance. You will find this option under Wipe -> Advanced Wipe, then select only one partition and then press the Repair or Change File System button. If a developer has added f2fs support for your device and we don't have it in TWRP, please contact me via PM to arrange for it to be added.
-Various bugfixes to backup and restore
-Improvements to USB storage handling
-Added a class to search for files to make finding the correct brightness file automatic in most cases
-Various other bugfixes and tweaks

Chrome 37 beta introduces Material Design in preparation for Android L

In preparation for the new Android version, Android L, Google has announced very recently the release of Chrome 37 beta that will be available in Google Play Store sometime today.

One of the notable changes that this chrome update brings is the Material Design Makeover. Furthermore, Google I/O says that the Material Design will be a highlight feature of Android L all throughout the OS. Google has already taken a step forward when it brought the Material Design to Chrome beta in preparation for the said Android version.

If you’ve typed your password on a tiny on-screen keyboard recently, you know how frustrating it can be. Well, say goodbye to all those "x"s when you meant "c"s. Now with the latest Chrome beta for Android when you’re signed into Chrome, you won’t need to sign in again on Google websites, including Gmail, Maps or Search.
To sign into Chrome, simply click on > Settings > Sign in to Chrome.

Chrome aims to provide a clear and cleaner structure of the different movable components of the app through the work of Material Design. One can find several workings of Material Design through the flatter graphics that employ shadows to produce depth and the tabs that can be shuffled up and down and tilt when one reaches the top or bottom. Android L is already brought to Google Docs and Sheets and the Play Store, according to Google.

Chrome 37 brings easier and faster way for the users when they happen to go to Google services. It is no longer necessary for the users to re-enter their password to other Google services the moment they have already signed into Chrome.

Chrome beta also gives one the capacity to automatically sign into all of his/her accounts on the web, in case he/she has more than one Google account. Using the account that one chooses, one can have access from one account to another at a simple touch of a button and he/she will be assured that his/her bookmarks, passwords, and several other Chrome apps will be stored together within his/her devices.

Qualcomm becomes battery-friendly with LTE Direct

Qualcomm aims in has developed a more battery-friendly as devices power supplies easily drains using the main phone features to to function such as WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS signals. Such effects are evident when using apps such as Google Now, Foursquare and Keep for these apps rely on locational awareness, in layman’s term, “geofencing”, to house contextually sensitive information, such as the location of friends and nearby restaurants.

To target this battery dilemma, Qualcomm has formulated LTE direct, a device-to-device discovery service. The discovery is expected to lead to better exchange of information of smartphones as well as tablets with piggybacks on LTE that can reach as far as 500 meter range.

A highlight of LTE Direct includes battery preservation which brings it to the advantage over other information transport technologies like Bluetooth. Instead of the usual constant beeping, LTE enables the devices to search and detect each other coordinately; the action gives little effect to battery life performance.

With LTE Direct, devices can hide their identity to others due to their privacy sensitivity capacity. Furthermore, LTE Direct is well applicable for applications in searching, push advertising, and loyalty services because of its better range than those of other applications, says Qualcomm.

Unfortunately, because LTE Direct is still undergoing several operating trials, the said technology will most likely not be enjoyed this year. But the promises and possible benefits it brings may lead to other discoveries and better living. Qualcomm will be introducing some notable features of LTE Direct during the developers conference on September 18-19 in San Francisco.

LG sets a record of 20% growth as they sold 14.5 million smartphones in second quarter

During the second quarter of of 2014, LG has received an increase of 20 percent as they set a record of 14.5 million sold smartphones, announced today by the South Korean manufacturer. It is an added good news for LG as it is also reported that they had experienced 17 percent growth from first quarter of 2014.

LG's high returns of profit, including that of the mobile division, KRW 3.6 trillion ($3.5 billion), the highest recorded sales since 2010, and an operating profit of KRW 85.8 billion ( $83.4 million), have contributed big time to the company's progress as they have successfully covered their losses from the previous three consecutive quarters. The effectiveness of their performance this quarter is clearly reflected by the continuing demands for G3 and of the mid-range L series of handsets.

An increase in demand for smartphones with LTE features is highly predicted by the reason that a third of this year's shipments only includes handsets with LTE connectivity. LG also has plans to launch its very own G3 in more global markets, saying that they intend to introduce additional models, like the G3 Beat.

Samsung always advises us to prepare the following important notes to consider before performing the software update.  I have also added some useful insights why you should follow this procedures to keep your  phone in safe.

Recharge the phone's battery - You should make sure your device is fully recharged before performing the software update. Do not also remove the battery during the software update is in progress. A power failures may cause damaged to your device that might results as we so-called “soft-bricks”. If this happens your device may just stuck on Samsung logo or welcome screen and can’t reboot normally.

Back important data - You should back-up your important files, including contacts, emails, messages, photos, videos, apps and other stuff. Like I said while during software update process is interrupted there is a possibility that your data stored from your device internal SD card may lose or deleted when a sudden unexpected failure happened and it forces you to perform a factory data reset which basically wipes your phone's memory.

Galaxy S5 has no root - Your device should not been modified or rooted, there is a certain circumstances that a modified and rooted Galaxy S5 SM-G900F may not accept any official software update anymore or it can accept an update but it might harm your device once the update has made. Learn about the new Samsung KNOX security suite. Most known error that says ‘firmware upgrade encountered an issue, please select recovery mode in kies and try again‘ or “Your device has been modified Software update are not available” you should try to avoid that from happening.

Update to 4.4.2 G900FDXU1ANG1 via Over-The-Air (OTA)

This is usually how the carrier branded or locked Samsung Galaxy S5, performs a software update.  This method is Firmware Update through over the air or called as OTA update, which usually a notification message will directly sent to you from your network provider or Samsung and notifies you that there is a new update available for download.  If you did not received any notification messages you can manually check fro the update instead.  Doing this you may only tap on your Galaxy S5 SM-G900F Settings>>About Device, tap Software Update.
  • Find "Software update"
  • Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your mobile phone.
  • Tap the settings icon.
  • Tap About device.
  • Tap Software update.

It will automatically tells you that a new update is available or your software is up to date when there is none yet. You can simply tap install now when you want to perform an update or install later.

Update to 4.4.2 G900FDXU1ANG1 Through Kies

The second method is a firmware update through Samsung Kies. You may head-over to your  local Samsung support page from where you can download Samsung Kies from there, and install it (guide for installation) in your Windows or Mac computer. Choose the new Kies 3 which supports the Galaxy S5 SM-G900F and other Samsung devices running with 4.3, 4.4.2 and up OS .  Once you installed Kies 3, all you need is connect your Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F to the computer using the USB cable, then simply run and follow Kies on-screen software update instructions.
