AT&T is sending out an OTA update for the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900A). The update has bumped the device Android Marshmallow OS  to build version G900AUCS4DQC1 from G900AUCU4DQB1. It's just a small OTA update bringing the monthly security patches, and this time around it contains the March 1, 2017 Android security patch level.

How to Update the Samsung Galaxy S5 to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow?

Samsung urges us to prepare the following important notes to consider before performing the software update.  I have also added some useful insights why you should follow this procedure to keep your  phone in safe.

How to Update the Galaxy Note 5 to Official Android 7.0 Nougat

Prepare the following recommendations before you update your device, to keep it safe as possible. There is a risk involved upon updating, so make sure to follow this steps before you proceed.

The following  process will not work on a modified device. If you have a rooted and modified Galaxy Note5 SM-N920G.  You may grab the stock firmware N920GDDU3CQC7 itself, then unroot and restore back your Galaxy Note 5 to the official or factory default firmware.

1. Check the remaining power percentage of the battery, it should be at least 50% or higher before you take the update. If it is lower to the recommended level, the device must be recharged first. Insufficient battery power may cause a fatal error if and when the update failed to initiate.
2. Ensure that your device is connected to a strong WiFi connection. Some firmware update may take long enough to install and it will depend on how small or large the update file size is.

This process is very important and it is highly recommended before taking an update. You should secure you data first beforehand. If ever something might go wrong during the update process, and you might encounter a failure, you will not lose your data. Doing so, will bring the device back to its original factory default settings but it deletes your stored data as it technically wipes and cleans out the device memory cache.
5. Do not ever touch your phone if the updating process is already initiated. Just let the phone sit on top of your table and make sure it could not be interrupted on any part. You should not press any keys, nor turning the power off and or removing the battery. Do not disconnect the USB cable if you’re performing an update using a computer.
6. Make sure you Galaxy Note 5 has no root in it, and or running on any unofficial firmware. Keep in mind that a rooted and a modified phone will no longer receive any official firmware update from the dealer. Doing so, you will only receive the advisory message that says something like this;
   “The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center.”

Update your Galaxy Note 5 via Over The Air (OTA Update)

The Over The Air (OTA) update requires you to connect your Galaxy Note 5 to a Wi-Fi network to avoid high data charges.

• From the device Home screen, simply tap Apps.
• Tap the Settings (gear icon).
• Tap the System tab.
• Tap About device.
• Tap Software update.
• Tap Check for updates.
• Tap the Install button, then OK.

Wait until the phone completely reboot before touching it. It may reboot (turn on and off) multiple times as the update might still at its finalization stage.
If the update is available, it will just prompt you the update’s technical details including on how to download and install it. If somehow the update isn’t available yet, it will also tell you that your device software is up to date. However, even if the update is already rolled out and you’ve already knew that it is officially released in your country and or network provider, you should also consider that the released usually take in stages and may also take days before it arrives on some areas. So you may have to wait and keep on checking until you get the update.

Update your Galaxy Note 5 Using  Smart Switch for PC

This method is always handy on some part, especially if you have missed the update and you’re left behind to the update’s scheduled dates that usually only took place and runs in weeks. You can still easily update your Galaxy Note 5 using your PC or Mac. All you need is a USB cable and then the Smart Switch firmware update tool. Smart Switch is similar to the before Kies that have been used to older devices. Also, Smart Switch has the capability to back up and restore your data in just a few clicks away.

1. Download Smart Switch for PC and MAC computers version and then  install it on your computer.
2. Connect your Galaxy Note5 on your computer using the USB cable.
3. Run Smart Switch, then wait until it recognizes the connection of the device. If the update is available it will automatically prompt you to update your device.
4. Click on the Update button. Some other steps like on how to backup and restore your data is included in the instructions.

Again do not touch the phone like disconnecting the USB cable if the software update has started. AT&T is sending out an OTA update for the Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925A). Unfortunately, the update is not the much awaited Android 7.0 Nougat yet, but still in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. The update were dubbed as build version G925AUCS6DQC1 bringing nothing more but then the usual monthly Android security patches. It is now contains the March 1, 2017 Android security patch level.

Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center.”  This is a warning message that only appears for those devices that have been rooted and installed with modified and unofficial firmware.  So to be able to get the Software OTA update again, you must Unroot the Galaxy S6 edge first, and or removed any modification that has been installed in it.

AT&T Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+ Android 7.0 Nougat Updates Ready for Release

If you owned a AT&T Galaxy S6 (SM-G920A), or a Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G925A) and a Galaxy S6 edge+ (SM-G928A) have been waiting for the Android 7.0 Nougat updates to roll out. Well, it looks like AT&T has finally prepares the said Nougat updates for their devices. In-fact, two Android 7.0 Nougat firmware version have been spotted recently in their public  firmware  server.  The first one was floating out there since early February, and the other one is also recently added later on this March.

The Android 7.0 Nougat firmware have been out there for a quite some time now, but it's not officially released yet so far. For whatever reasons it may have, or maybe those were just  a test-builds, it will definitely going out very soon. But to when the exact date really is are still blurry at this time being.

How to Update the Galaxy Note 5 via Over-The-Air (OTA)

The Over The Air (OTA) update requires you to connect your Galaxy Note 5 to a Wi-Fi network to avoid high data charges. Ensure that your device battery is recharged before performing the software  update. The phone must not have been rooted or otherwise the update may fail or it may cause a fatal error. You must fully unroot your Galaxy Note5 first before performing the software update.

• From the device Home screen, simply touch Apps.


• Touch the Settings (gear icon).


• Touch the System tab.


• Touch About device.


• Touch Software update.


• Touch Check for updates. It will then prompts you to the new software update.


• Lastly, touch the Install button, then OK.

Update your Galaxy Note 5 using your computer via Smart Switch PC

This method is always handy on some part, especially if you have missed the update and you’re left behind to the update’s scheduled dates that usually only took place and runs in weeks. How to Update Galaxy S6 edge+ via Over-The-Air (OTA)

This is the usual method on how to check and to perform an update on Galaxy S6 edge+ to the latest software version.  This method is what we called Firmware Update  Over-The-Air and so-called as FOTA or simply OTA update. In most often cases, a notification message will be directly sent out to you by your network provider and by Samsung itself, telling you that there is a new update that has now available for download.  This approach requires you to prepare a strong WiFi connection,  and so it might happen sometimes that one did not receive any software update notification messages; (1) If and when the device is out of range during the software update roll out  period, (2) Automatic update has been turned off in the device Settings.
However, We can still manually check for the update instead.

Here’s how to do it manually:

• From your Galaxy S6 edge+  Home screen tap on Apps.
• Select the Settings gear icon.
• Tap About device.
• Tap Software update.
• Tap Check for an update.

It will then notify you that a new update is available for download. But it also says that “Your device software is up to date“, and there is no software update is yet available for grab. You can simply choose Install now if you do so or else Install later if you want to get the update in later time.

Sprint has once again rolled out an OTA update for Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900P.  The update has bumped up to version G900PVPS3CQB3 from last few weeks update version G900PVPS3CQA2. As usual, the update does not brings any noticeable changes nor any adverse effect to the device as it is still part of the monthly Android security updates.  The latter will brings the February 2017 Android security patches prior to the previous version which also contains the January 2017 security patches.
