Galaxy S5 SM-G900H Update build G900HXXU1BOL2, Adds Battery Life and Device Security Improvements

A new Android 5.0 update has recently released on the Galaxy S5 SM-G900H (Exynos version) to which came with build number G900HXXU1BOL2. The update is said to bring some additional improvements to the Battery life performance.  This feature is similar to ones that we've seen on the Galaxy S5 SM-G900F (Snapdragon) update, as there is this new Battery Apps optimization feature added in it. This app can be use to optimize the phone's battery life performance by either disabling some unused and unstable application in the background process.

In addition, the new Security patch update for the month of December is also seen being displayed in the system info.  The rests were just the usual thing we've seen in every updates like some extra bug fixes, and further improvements to the device performance.

Samsung urges us to prepare the following important notes to consider before performing the software update.  I have also added some useful insights why you should follow this procedure to keep your  phone in safe.

Recharge the phone’s battery – You should make sure your device is fully recharged before performing the software update. Do not also remove the battery during the software update is in progress. A power failure may cause damaged to your device that might result to what we called “soft-bricks”.  If this happened on your device, it may just stuck on Samsung logo or welcome screen and can’t reboot normally.

Backup important data – You should back-up your important files, including contacts, emails, messages, photos, videos, apps and other stuff. Like I said while during software update process is interrupted there is a possibility that your data stored from your device internal SD card may lose or deleted when a sudden unexpected failure happened and it forces you to perform a factory data reset which basically wipes your phone’s memory.

Ensure that your Galaxy S5 should still running in the official Lollipop released build version and hasn’t been rooted – Your device should not be modified or rooted, there are some certain circumstances that a modified and rooted Galaxy S5 SM-G900H may not accept any official software update anymore or it can accept an update but it might harm your device once the update has made. How to Perform an Update via Over-The-Air (OTA)?

Android 6.0 Marshmallow Beta Update for Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge Now Rolling Out to UK's Participants

Those who have had participated the Galaxy Beta Program that has recently launched in UK's Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge owners has just started receiving the said Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta update. The update is officially launched via Over-The-Air and it came out with build number MRA58K.G920FXXU3ZOL6 for the Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F), whilst the Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925F) has got the build number MRA58K.G925FXXU3ZOL6.

According to the initial changelog details of the Android 6.0 beta, it is said the new the Touchwiz provides enhanced usability, and an updated visual design. It has also mentioned the Quick Connect feature that will now easily finds and connect to nearby devices and previous connections. The Fingerprints are also added with more security protection, an alternative unlocked method of pattern, PIN, or password is now required to add fingerprints. Moreover, the Advanced Power Saving mode now restricts background data to extend battery life performance.

In addition,  it also advised that some apps like the Samsung Gear app is needed to be uninstalled and reinstalled as it may not work after the update. Samsung UK is Inviting Beta Testers for Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update

It seems like the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge would not come into a surprise manner via Over-The-Air update, as Samsung UK has just announced that they are looking for some few beta testers to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update before anybody else. In fact, this program is also recently launched in South Korea.  Samsung Mobile UK is inviting anyone to participate the said program and will then be able to have the privilege to download the first Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta update on their Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge in no time before the whole world may know it.

1.  Create a Samsung Account from here -  https://account.samsung.com/account/signUp.do
2. a) Download the Galaxy Care App at Samsung Galaxy Apps - http://www.samsung.com/uk/apps/mobile/galaxyapps/)
   b) or download the Galaxy Care APK via Google Drive and manually install it into your phone.  Once downloaded all you need is simply open the file and install it manually in your device. But first you must enable the "Unknown sources" option to which can be found in Settings > Lockscreen and security so you can manually install the APK.
3. Open the app > Wait for the banners to load > Scroll through the options > Hit 'Join'.
4. Wait until the said beta Android 6.0 Marshmallow starts to roll out.

How to update the Galaxy Note 5 SM-N9208 to the latest build of Android OS

Prepare the following recommendations before you update your device, to keep it safe as possible. There is a risk involved upon updating, so make sure to follow this steps before you proceed.

Check the remaining  power percentage of the battery, it should be at least 50% or higher before you take the update. If it is lower to the recommended level, the device must be charged first. Insufficient battery power may cause a fatal error if and when the update failed to initiate.

Ensure that your device is connected to a strong Wi-Fi connection. Some firmware update may take long enough to install and it will depend on how small or large the update file size is.

Check the remaining storage space of your device memory if it still enough and can still store the file size of the incoming update. Update your Galaxy Note 5 via Over The Air (OTA Update)

The Over The Air (OTA) update requires you to connect your Galaxy Note 5 to a Wi-Fi network to ease your burden on high data charges.

• From the device Home screen, simply tap Apps.
• Tap the Settings (gear icon).
• Tap the System tab.
• Tap About device.
• Tap Software update.
• Tap Check for updates.
• Tap the Install button, then OK.
• Wait until the phone completely reboot before touching it. It may reboot (turn on and off) multiple times as the update might still at its finalization stage.

If the update is available, it will just prompt you the update’s technical details including on how to download and install it. If somehow the update isn’t available yet, it will also tell you that your device software is up to date. However, even if the update is already rolled out and you’ve already knew that it is officially released in your country and or network provider, you should also consider that the released usually take in stages and may also take days before it arrives on some areas. So you may have to wait and keep on checking until you get the update.

Update your Galaxy Note 5 using your PC or Mac computer via Smart Switch

This method is always handy on some part, especially if you have missed the update and you’re left behind to the update’s scheduled dates that usually only took place and runs in weeks. You can still easily update your Galaxy Note 5  using your PC or Mac. All you need is a USB cable and then the Smart Switch firmware update tool. The said update is dubbed with build number G925TUVS3DOJC, but it is still base in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and not Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to which reportedly coming within this month. According to Samsung's announcement, this update is said to bring the Android OS Security updates to which an address of the recent Android  OS vulnerabilities.  This is the same security patch for the  month of December that has just also released on the regular T-Mobile Galaxy S6 (SM-G920T)

Updating the Galaxy S6 edge via Over-The-Air (OTA)

This is the usual method on how to check and to perform an update on Galaxy S6 edge  to the latest software version.  This method is what we called Firmware Update  Over-The-Air and so-called as FOTA or simply OTA update. In most often cases, a notification message will be directly sent out to you by your network provider and by Samsung itself, telling you that there is a new update that has now available for download.  This approach requires you to prepare a strong WiFi connection,  and so it might happen sometimes that one did not receive any software update notification messages; (1) If and when the device is out of range during the software update roll out  period, (2) Automatic update has been turned off in the device Settings.
However, We can still manually check for the update instead.

Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center.”  This is a warning message that only appears for those devices that have been rooted and installed with modified and unofficial firmware.  So to be able to get the Software OTA update again, you must Unroot the Galaxy S6 edge first, and or removed any modification that has been installed in it.

Verizon Galaxy S6 (SM-G920V) has gotten another OTA update to build G920VVRU4BOK7. This update is still in Android 5.1.1 Lollipop base and not the much awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow update,  but it contains a bunch of  improvements including the Wi-Fi Calling for Advanced Calling, Live Video Broadcasting in real time via Youtube, and the Ultra-High-Quality Audio (UHQA) that enhances the richness and crispness of the sound. There are a few visual tweaks as well, like the new rounded icon appearance of the folders and native apps. How to Update Sprint Galaxy Note 5 via Over The Air (OTA)

The Over The Air (OTA) update requires you to connect your Galaxy Note 5 to a WiFi network to ease you on high data charges.

Make sure to recharge your phone. A power failure may interrupt the updating progress. If necessary, you may also create a backup copy of all of your important files stored in the phone’s memory, so that if something might went wrong during the update process your files is in safe place already.  You may also need to perform a factory reset if you want a cleaner and a much fresher firmware installation. How to Update Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920G) to the Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) build LMY47X.N920GDDU2AOK4

Prepare the following recommendations before you update your device, to keep it safe as possible. There is a risk involved upon updating, so make sure to follow this steps before you proceed.

1. Check the remaining power percentage of the battery, it should be at least 50% or higher before you take the update. If it is lower to the recommended level, the device must be charged first. Insufficient battery power may cause a fatal error if and when the update failed to initiate.

However, even if the update is already rolled out and you’ve already knew that it is officially released in your country and or network provider, you should also consider that the released usually take in stages and may also take days before it arrives on some areas. So you may have to wait and keep on checking until you get the update.

Update your Galaxy Note 5 using your PC or Mac computer via Smart Switch

This method is always handy on some part, especially if you have missed the update and you’re left behind to the update’s scheduled dates that usually only took place and runs in weeks. You can still easily update your Galaxy Note 5 using your PC or Mac. All you need is a USB cable and then the Smart Switch firmware update tool. Smart Switch is similar to the before Kies that have been used to older devices. Also, Smart Switch has the capability to back up and restore your data in just a few clicks away.
