AT&T Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 active and S6 edge plus Receiving May Android Security Updates

AT&T has just released this month's OTA updates for their own Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy S6 active and the Galaxy S6 edge plus models.

These new releases brings nothing more any new changes to the recent Android 7.0 Nougat, but this time around it includes the May 1, 2017 Android security patch level. Each devices receives at about 15 MB to 50 MB OS update,  of which it won't take too long to download and install.

Android 7.0 Nougat Updates on Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920I Released in Australia, version N920IDVU3CQD3

The Android 7.0 Nougat update for Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920I variants has finally begun.  The said Nougat update is now available for those who owned the factory unlocked and Vodafone Galaxy Note 5 in Australia.  While other carriers such as Telstra and Optus might as well follow soon.

However, for New Zealand and Singapore Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920I  owners, you folks might still hold on for a little while.  There hasn't any signs of the Android 7.0 Nougat movements from Samsung's software update center in the said region as of this moment.

May 1 2017 Android Security Updates Released on Verizon Galaxy S6, S6edge and S6 edge+

Verizon is sending out an OTA updates containing the May 1, 2017 Android Security Patch Level for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, and the Galaxy S6 edge+ .  These are now the second Android 7.0 Nougat being rolled out on the said devices.

Android 7.0 Nougat Update Hitting Galaxy S6 G920I and S6 edge G925I in Australia

We have juts spotted a new update for Sprint Galaxy S5 SM-G900P at Samsung's site. The update will bump-up the device recent Android 6.0 Marshmallow system to version G900PVPS3CQD1 from G900PVPS3CQC1. However, Sprint has no longer made any official announcements for this device updates, so we couldn't tell everything about it. Also, keep in mind that you can only get the new update if your device has not been rooted and or currently running on a modified firmware.  You must unroot your device first before taking an OTA update so your device may not get into any issues.

How to Update Samsung Galaxy S5 G900V to Marshmallow via Over-The-Air (OTA)


This is usually how the carrier branded or locked Samsung Galaxy S5, performs a software update.  This method is Firmware Update through over the air or called as OTA update, which most often  a notification message will directly send out to you from your network provider and notifies you that there is a new update available for download.  If you did not receive any notification messages you can manually check for the update instead.  Doing so you may only navigate on your Galaxy S5 SM-G900V  Settings > System updates > Check for new system update.
  • Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your mobile phone.
  • Tap the Settings icon.
  • Tap System update.
  • Tap Check for new system update.
It will automatically tells you that a new update is available. You can simply tap install now when you want to perform an update or install later.
