Fix HTC One X Stuck on HTC Screen Logo and Bootloop after Flash of ROM

Here' a simple solution to resolve issues on your HTC One X if it just stuck in HTC logo or bootloop after flashing a ROM. HTC One X stuck on bootscreen occurred if your device has an "HBOOT" version that that sometimes doesn't like accepting a new boot.img from a certain ROM build. Like for example if you have made changes or switched from "SENSE" to "AOSP" based ROM, then you'll probably asking why the heck it just stuck on HTC logo or having Boot loop issues.

Needed Toolkit and File
- First you must download the Android SDK Tool from here, grab the right one according to your Computer or laptop platform i.e Windows, Mac and Linux.
- Flash the latest ClockWorkMod recovery so that you can recharge the phone via recovery while the device is off.

Fix Stuck on HTC Logo

The device just being stuck at HT Logo and unable to start in normal is the most common issues after flashing a ROM. To resolved this problem, you may first try to clearing the "fastboot cache" and then force the device  to reboot in fastboot mode.
To do this follow this simple steps:
  • First, Power Down the phone and reboot into bootloader mode by holding down the "Volume Down" and the "Power button".
  • Use the volume buttons to navigate and choose " fastboot "and confirm the selection using with the power button.
  • Connect your  HTC One X to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
  • 4. In your computer, Run the command prompt by pressing "windows key + r" and typing "cmd". Go to the folder containing the fastboot. (E.i if fastboot is in the folder C: \ android type "cd \ Android).
cd \ Android)

  • Type the following command: " fastboot erase cache ".

fastboot erase cache

  • Choose reboot in fastboot menu and press the power button.

  • If the above steps doesn't give the desired results, there is another solution using this all in one kit. All you need to do is start the fastboot and reflash the kernel.

Fix Boot Loop Problem

If you have experience bootloop after flashing a ROM like for example CM10.1 or any ROM that you have previously flashed before the bootloop occurred.

  • Download the SDK tool if you haven't installed it yet.
  • You'll need to download the .zip file of the ROM onto your computer, then extract or "unzip" it using any extracting tool you have in in your computer like Winrar, Winzip or 7zip.
  • After the .zip file extracted, now find the file named "boot.img" then put it somewhere in your computer.

Run the command prompt in your computer

  • Windows: press "windows key + r" and typing "cmd". Go to the folder containing the fastboot. (E.i if fastboot is in the folder C: \ android type "cd \ Android).
  • Mac/Linux: Make sure you’ve got the boot.img in your home directory before running the Command Prompt or Terminal (Mac/Linux). Navigate to your /android-sdk/platform-tools/ folder in terminal using the “cd” command. So if the androidsdk is in your home folder you’d want to type: cd ~/androidsdk/platform-tools.
  •  Power Down the HTC One X completely. Hold down the power button and the volume down button.
  • Plug the device into your computer.  Then go to the bootloader mode. You will then see a “FASTBOOT USB”, as shown below.
  • Now it’s time to flash the boot.img. Type the following:
Windows:

fastboot flash boot boot.img

The reboot:
adb reboot

Mac/Linux:
./fastboot flash boot /path/to/boot.img (~/boot.img if the file is in your home directory)

Then reboot the device by typing the following command:
./fastboot reboot

Wait until the device completely reboot and past the HTC bootscreen.

More Solutions

Some further solution are as follows below, this is guides were quoted from Setsuna666 via XDA-original thread. This  might also resolves issues depends how your device status right now.

Cannot access the menu or fastboot RUU because the battery is low:

You should have the ClockworkMod 5.8.4.0 so that you can easily connect your HTC device via the USB cable to your computer while you are in recovery and this will re-charge automatically.

The bootloader Re-Locked:

You can use the unlock code you received by email from htc again and follow the procedure of the mouth of the bootloader. http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/unlock-instructions/page-4/

If you have a stock recovery:

Download a custom recovery such as ClockworkMod from the link above.
Perform the flash recovery that you find in the guide.
Now you can flash a new ROM.

If you have a ROM or Nandroid Backup inside the 'sdcard (internal memory)
  • Restart your device in recovery mode . In case you are still in fastboot choose the option " Reboot Bootloader "and then enter into recovery.
  • Restore the nandroid backup made using the " backup and restore "or flash the rom using the" install zip from sd card . "
  • Choose the option " reboot system now "and restart your smartphone into bootloader mode.
  • Enter the fastboot moving around with the volume keys.
  • Connect the device via the USB cable to the computer.
  • From a command prompt, navigate to the folder containing the fastboot and type the following command: " fastboot clean cache ".
  • If nothing works from the above procedures,  we are going to show you is the last chance you have to return back your HTC One X to normal.

Warning! This procedure will erase all your data, including potentially the partition / sdcard. Make sure you have more than 30% of the battery charge to run a RUU (Recovery Update utility).

  • Turn off the phone and reboot into bootloader mode by holding down the volume keys and the power button down.
  • Using the power buttons to choose " fastboot "and confirm the selection with the power button.
  • Connect the 'HTC One to your computer via USB cable.
  • Open the command prompt by pressing "windows key + r" and typing "cmd".
  • Go to the folder containing the fastboot.
  • (Eg if fastboot is in the folder C: \ android type "cd \ Android).
  • Then enter the following command: " fastboot getvar version-main . "
  • To find the RUU corresponding to your version. Start looking for it via xda.
  • Run the ReLock bootloader using " fastboot oem lock "from the command prompt.
  • Clean the cache with the command " fastboot erase cache ".
  • While you're in fastboot, computer actually run the RUU that you previously downloaded. This step will rewrite the following folders stock: / recovery, / boot and / system. E 'need to start from the beginning to unlock it.

That's it if you have something to add, your suggestion are most welcome.

U.S Carrier Locked Smartphone Unlocking Become illegal

United States users of a carrier locked smartphones bought from a certain network operator and used to unlocked it to use in other carrier will become illegal. What? NO! Heck this is true, according to +Eric Ravenscraft at +Android Police headlines.

For a bit of context, first, let's take a look at exactly what has changed. This is not new, sweeping legislation. What happens is that every three years, the Librarian of Congress issues a set of exemptions to the DMCA. This is to help account for changes in technology so the law doesn't stay woefully behind the times (though entire articles could be written about that itself).
In 2006 and in 2010 (the last round of exemptions took a while to process), the Library specifically allowed unlocking phones in order to use handsets on other providers. The 2006 ruling pointed out that the issue had little do with protecting copyright and more to do with protecting a business model (a fair point!), and the 2010 ruling merely upheld the previous exemption. However, it's not getting renewed a third time. So, how does this affect you? Well, that depends on what your needs are.
Again, this law is only passed in the United States and will be affecting U.S. users only, bad news to those with unlocking businesses. All unlockers from other  parts of the world, still have the fun from jailbreaking iPhones and unlocking Android and Windows based smartphones,

What the Samsung developers did here is, instead of writing code to properly control access for this functionality, they gave everyone permission to read and write data to the file. This particular mistake invalidates almost every security function ever present in the Android platform. It would enable anyone to possibly access sensitive data like passwords and even credit card information which are stored in the physical memory. What’s more, it even allows kernel code injection, so that anyone with evil intentions could design an app to take advantage of this and control the device in a manner which is completely transparent even to the kernel. This could be dangerous and even fatal for the security of such devices, unless a fix is released soon.

The software update now rolls out initially available in United Kingdom with firmware build I9300XXELLA. This update reportedly targets to fix the said Exynos Bug problem. Other countries might probably follow soon. Galaxy S3 users, can get this update via Samsung Kies or OTA (over the air) method. You can also mnaully install using the I9300XXELLA stock ROM and flash it thru Odin, here at androidromupdate.com.

Thus,  users who installed any custom ROMs can now also update to this build to avoid risk of any data exploit of such devices.

How to Restore and Fix Bricked Samsung Galaxy Camera (EK-GC100) with UnBrickable SD

Wonder how you can fix and restore your dead and hard-bricked Samsung Galaxy Camera (EK-GC100) from messing-up tinkering?
Well, good news and need not to worry anymore, AdamOutler an Elite Recognized Developer from XDA and his team who created the UnBrickable Mod from the Galaxy S series now deploys a working Unbrickable SD that fix and resurrect hard-bricked and dead Samsung Galaxy Camera. This is going to be the best solution when you messed-up your Samsung Galaxy Camera and ended up from hard brick. You can now easily repair it by using this tool. This is also a very useful solution for those advance users even not bricked but loves to tweaks their Galaxy Camera and prevents them from future hard bricking.

When your Galaxy Camera is already hard bricked, the SBOOT is damaged and then it will not boot normally. This  cannot be easily recovered by Odin and flashing the factory image directly  because the device is already locked up and Odin factory mode (Recovery mode and Download mode) will no longer work. So, AdamOutler's idea to restore the device is by enabling the SBOOT by loading via the SDCard BOOT and reload onto the EMMC. By this method, by which Odin factory modes are enabled again, thus we can now flash the partition image (PIT file) and the Factory stock image (Firmware).

This unbricking procedure needs just a little workaround since it requires disassembling the device but its not that much brings you hassles when you badly needed bringing back your device to life. Some part of this process is by shorting a tiny parts called resistor on the device motherboard and then you are on your way to successfully restore your Galaxy Camera

UnBrickable SD- The ultimate in Exynos Necromancy
The UnBrickable SD allows for total resurrection of an otherwise hard-bricked and dead device. It takes a device-specific SDCard, and a jumper to be placed across a tiny resistor. This triggers the device to silently boot at which point it will count to 10 and reload the device's bootloaders. This uses Samsung Official firmware unlike UnBrickable SD Mod  which allows for dual-booting of custom and official.

Now head over to AdamOutler XDA-Developer original thread and follow the step by step guide on how to restore and fix your bricked Samsung Galaxy Camera.

How to Completely Restore Back Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to Original StockROM/Firmware

If you have modded your Galaxy Note 2,  like rooting and installing stock rooted ROMs you may need to install the unmodified, unrooted and original firmware. It can't just simply revert back to it's original default settings without flashing required like performing a factory reset. This restoring process works on all Samsung Galaxy Note 2 variants - International, United States and Canada.

Do I need to unroot my Galaxy Note 2 first?
No need to unroot, installing official or original firmware will automatically remove root to your device once after flashing. Since rooting and installing unofficial firmware already voids your device warranty, that's because the binary flash counter is has triggered when you flash any modified or rooted ROM.

Do I need to reset the flash counter when already tripped?
Yes! If you need to completely restore back without a trace of any modification, you should reset the flash counter. You may check it via download mode - pressing and holding  (volume down + home + power buttons) then press "volume up" button to continue. Look for the Custom Binary Download, it shows a count of  how many flashing have made.  If its not tripped then you may not need to reset it, but if  it showed like 0/1 then you should reset it to 0 count.  You can simply alter it using Chainfire's TriangleAway app, it's free to download it here.

Is this method useful in any other way?
Aside from bringing back your device from using unofficial firmware, this is also useful for fixing soft-bricks. If you messed-up from rooting or installing modified ROM then you need to fix it by restoring back the original firmware and bring back your device to be useful again.
Disclaimer: We should not be held responsible if anything happens to your device. Proceeding and Use of this guide is solely at your own risk!
Update: (Important Note) For those who already updated their devices to 4.4.2 KitKat updates or already running with any 4.4.2  base ROM as long as it has the 4.4.2 bootloader installed.  Please DO NOT DOWNGRADE or revert back to old 4.3 and 4.1.2 firmware for which the 4.4.2 and 4.3 update includes a secured bootloader. Instead install the 4.4.2 stock firmware over a 4.4.2 based with secured-bootloader ROM. And please proceed with precautions.

    1. Important Reminders before Restoring or Flashing a Stock ROM on Samsung Galaxy Note 2
    • Make sure that your Galaxy Note2 battery is fully charge.
    • Stock ROM packages comes in two formats the ‘Full-Wipe’ (delete your stored data after flashing) and the ‘Non-Wipe’ (it doesn’t delete your phone’s stored data) but it is highly recommended to make a back up all important files stored from your phone’s internal memory – contacts, messages, etc.  before flashing no-matter if it is Full-Wipe or Non-Wipe,  just to be safe and ensure that your stored data are in  safe  if something went wrong during the flashing process.
    • Use a PC or laptop that runs in Windows OS, with a good and perfectly working USB serial port.  Odin will not work on MAC OS.
    • Use the supplied USB cable for your Galaxy Note 2.
    • Enable USB debugging from your phone’s settings. Go to Settings > Applications > Development, and tick the box that says ‘Enable USB Debugging’.
    • Ensure that KIES is closed and not running in the system tray! Kies will interrupt and doesn’t like Odin, it will block you from flashing.

    2. Download the needed tools for flashing

    USB Driver: Note 2_USB_Driver
    Odin Flasher Tool: Odin3_v3.07

Update: If you device already on 4.3 base ROM then you must install the 4.3 stock only, otherwise it will not work or Odin tool will not let you through flashing the old firmware. This issue may caused by the new 4.3 secured bootloader.

    3. Install the USB Driver and Extract the downloaded stock ROM
Install the USB Driver first to get rid of flashing failures. Also need to extract the downloaded file which is packed in zip format, so that you’ll get the tar.md5 file.

    4. Run and Configure Odin

Run Odin downloader Odin3_v3.07 on your PC desktop. Watch out the check-boxes options on the right top of Odin, ensure that the ‘RE-PARTITION’ is unchecked, only the ‘AUTO-REBOOT and ‘F.RESET TIME’ checkboxes are both remained checked.

    5. Boot your Galaxy Note 2 into Download Mode

To reboot the Galaxy Note2 into download mode , you need to turn the power off. After it completely shut down, just press and hold the Volume Down key, Home button and the Power ON/OFF button simultaneously.

You should then prompted into a warning screen and asking you to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, just simply press volume up to get into download mode. The download mode then displays an Android robot and say’s “Downloading.. Do not turn off target!!”

    6. Connect your Galaxy Note 2 to Computer or Laptop

Once you already reboot the phone in download mode, simply connect the phone to your PC or laptop USB.
In Odin window – the ID:COM box will turn to blue color and indicates the COM port number and a word “Added” on a log box will prompt you that the device is already detected or recognized by Odin. Your COM port number might be different from mine. If you do not see a COM port number then there’s something missing or wrong. You may read again from the top of this post.

    7. Set and load and the binary .tar.md5 file
T he stock ROM is pack in One .tar.md5 file only. Now, you need to just simply click on the PDA button, then browse to the folder where the .tar or .tar.md5 you have previously extracted and then select and load it.

    8. Begin Flashing the stock ROM

Once if all set and ready to fire-up, hit the “START” button in Odin to begin flashing the stock ROM.
Do not ever interrupt the phone while already in flashing progress, like disconnecting the cable or turning off the device. Just wait until it completely finish.

    9. Wait for the word PASS!!

When the Stock ROM installation successfully completes, you will then see a word “PASS” in Odin. This indicates that the flashing was already finish, and on the log box it says “All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)”. The phone will just then automatically reboot, then it’s time to remove it from PC or laptop USB connection.
Confirm if you successfully restore your Samsung Galaxy Note (Sprint L900).
Confirm your fresh firmware installed by typing *#1234# or
    Go to Settings>About Phone>Firmware info.
You can also do factory reset by dialing *2767*3855#.

Possible errors that you may encountered, this is based on my own experience while flashing stock ROM on Samsung Android devices. These are just a few hints on how to resolved it.

Q: I got an error message that says “Set-up connection Failed” ?
A: 1. Check your USB connection from the phone to PC,
    2. Connect to another PC USB port
    3. Check and try to another USB cable
    4. Re-install the USB driver.
Q: Odin just suddenly stuck in the middle of nowhere while in flashing progress, It isn’t responding at all?
A: Check for possible program that might interrupt the process, like disabling the anti-virus and closing any running programs.Try to use another PC or laptop,
Q: I experienced bootloop or the phone just stuck on Welcome Logo (phone always stop at bootanimation) and it won’t boot normally?
A: You can fix it via recovery mode option, do this:
    Boot in recovery mode
    1. Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power button.
    2. Use volume keys to select, Up and Down and Power or Home key to select the option
    3. Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Home button.
    4. Next select the Wipe Cache Partition
    5. Lastly, select Reboot System Now to reboot your Galaxy Note2 in Normal mode.

That’s it! Just let us know how’s it going.

How to Enable USB Debugging Mode on All Google Nexus Devices Runs with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean

Are you confused how to configure its USB debugging mode while you want to connect your device to PC or laptop? Here's how!

In Android 4.2 you cannot cannot find the Developer options to Enable USB Debugging mode in the settings menu. Google intended to hide this options and I don't know why the heck they do this, this means that you cannot Enable USB debugging to communicate with your device when you connect it to your computer, printers etc. This happens if you owned one of  Google's Nexus series of Android devices like Nexus 10, Nexus 7 Tablet, Nexus 4 and Galaxy Nexus that already runs or updated with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean software. This isn't funny particularly from those who loves to tweaks their devices from rooting, installing custom recoveries and customized ROMS.

The developers options is not absolutely taken away but its only intentionally hidden by Google. To show the Developers options screen, just simply do the following:

Goto Settings> About tablet and tap on the 'Build Number' text 7 times, just slowly and not too fast.

For about tapping 3 times, you will then prompted a countdown of taps until it will show or allow you as "Developer". When you become as a developer as told, go back from "Settings" menu
Once on the Settings screen you will then find the "Developers options" from there you may then"Enable USB debugging Mode"

Already proven works on all Google Nexus Android devices with software builds Adnroid 4.2 Jelly Bean:
    Nexus 10 - 4.2 (JOP40C) "mantaray"
    Nexus 4 - 4.2 (JOP40C) "occam"
    Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi) - 4.2 (JOP40C)  "nakasi"
    Nexus 7 (GSM/HSPA+) - 4.2 (JOP40C) "nakasig"
Galaxy Nexus (GSM/HSPA+) with Google Wallet - 4.2 (JOP40C) "takju",  "maguro"

Might also works on these devices when upgraded to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean
    Nexus Q
    Galaxy Nexus (Verizon CDMA/LTE)
    Galaxy Nexus "toroplus" (Sprint CDMA/LTE)
     Nexus S (worldwide version, i9020t and i9023)
    Nexus S (850MHz version, i9020a)
    Nexus S (Korea version, m200)
    Nexus S 4G (d720)

    That's it for now..
Credits to all fellow XDA-developer members, who firstly figured it out.

How to Upgrade a Rooted T-Mobile Galaxy S3 to Official Jelly Bean T999UVDLJA

Samsung and T-Mobile has now officially release its Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean update for T-Mobile's Samsung Galaxy S3 SGH-T999. The firmware build T999UVDLJA and is now available via OTA (over the air) and Samsung Kies software server. To those among of you who have a rooted or with installed custom ROM on your devices can't get this update anymore since such devices OTA and Kies ignores you from updating. Below are the methods on how you can upgrade to official T999UVDLJA and enjoys its new features like the Google Now, All Share Cast sharing, Blocking Mode option and many more performance and enhancement added.

How to update Jelly Bean T999UVDLJA if my Galaxy S3 has been rooted and running custom ROM

A: Install UVDLJA Update via CWM/TWRP custom Recovery

If you currently rooted and runs with a custom recovery, you don't need to worry. You can still install this update via recovery procedure. Grab  Wildchld,  stock T999UVDLJA deodexed file, which can be flashed directly via CWM or TWRP custom recovery. Follow the details here on  XDA-original thread.

For those who wants a clean T999UVDLJA stock ROM and wants to start a fresh firmware, unmodifed, unrooted or just a full stock. You can grab the Odin flashable stock ROM and then manually flash it straight to the device. There are two options to do it, here's how.

B: Restore Back from original ICS 4.0.4 firmware and then update thru OTA UVDLJA

Reverting back to ICS will wipe your device modification like Root and the customized ROM. Follow this guide here on how to restore back your Galaxy S3 to its original ICS firmware
    http://smartphonefix.blogspot.com/2012/06/how-to-return-back-samsung-galaxy-s3-to.html
Once the original ICS is already installed, you may then now run your device thru OTA update.
     Go to> Settings>About>Software Update.

C: Directly flash the official Jelly Bean T999UVDLJA Stock ROM

Fix Keyboard Backlight Samsung Captivate Glide Updated on ICS UCLH2

Have you ever updated your Samsung Captivate Glide to the official ICS 4.0.4 UCLH2 firmware and found out that the keyboard backlight is missing?. Well, here's a fix just until Samsung will push out the next update regarding this keyboard backlight issue. XDA-Developer, recognized contributor ninthsense and etherfish  came up with a solution on how to solved this keyboard backlight issue on Samsung Captivate Glide. This problem has already been found from the ICS Leak I927UCLG9 and then also found out with the official released build I927UCLH2 recently.

How to Fix Keyboard Backlight for Samsung Captivate Glide

Note: This will work only if your phone is rooted and are using windows PC/laptop.

    1. Install root explorer or root browser lite (free) from market. And copy the boot.img and lights.n1.so from keyboard_fix.rar in root of your sdcard(phone).
    2. Launch the root explorer and Delete the existing lights.n1.so file from /system/lib/hw (probably you can keep a copy somewhere)
    3. Copy the lights.n1.so from your sdcard directory to /system/lib/hw
    3. Make sure that the file is presen/copiedt in the directory.
    4. Download fastboot.zip file attached to the post and extract it in one of your directory on the pc.
    5. Connect your phone through a usb cable and i'm assuming you've the usb drivers for your phone already installed on your pc.
    6. Goto command prompt and change to the directory you extracted the zip file into.
    7. issue the command "adb shell"
    8. You should get a android prompt. Issue the command "su"
    9. Issue cd sdcard and then issue "ls". Just to make sure that the boot.img is there.
    10. Now issue the following commands:
    Code:

    dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p9
    dd if=/sdcard/boot.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p9
