How To Change the CSC Code on Samsung Galaxy S5

Changing the CSC code of Samsung Galaxy S5 is very important on some part, one important benefit to this is so it can receive the latest software update which is officially rolled out by Samsung. This is basically useful like if you just bought your Galaxy S5 from an online store or just sent to you as a gift without knowing the default firmware of the phone to where and what country it came from. Samsung was using an special CSC file included in Android firmware which are specifically built and designates to each country or mobile network providers.

Now, once and every while when the new software update arrives, it will check the default software build of your device. Yes it's smart indeed, it will check your phone if still runs on official firmware or not. A software update will not allows you to download if it finds-out that your phone has been rooted or modified, this error message oftentimes appears "Your device have been modified, Software updates are not available" or "Your device have been modified, This device is not supported by Kies". But sometimes even if you did not do anything or altered your phone by means of rooting, custom recovery and custom ROMs or any other modification you still having trouble getting the latest software update.







This can be easily achieved when you try to perform a software update using Kies for it also checks the default AP or PDA, CP or PHONE, and the CSC file of your phone. It will only allows you to download if the new software update match the default firmware to that particular country or network operators. If the PDA, PHONE and CSC codes did not match correctly, and if somehow you've see this message "Your device's current firmware version is not supported to update firmware via kies." Well, you should then suspects that the problem lies with your phone's current firmware build that has other country or carrier provider's default CSC file bundled with it.

Though there was this old method to simply change the CSC code of your phone like the secret-code *#272*IMEI# and or some sort to root your phone first then use an apps. Those method only worked on older Android versions but it will not tend to work anymore on the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS which is what your Galaxy S5 OS running right now.

To gain the official software update you must change the CSC code of your Galaxy S5 according to your country and or mobile operators (look for the SIM-Card you've been using). If you want to confirm if your phone does not have the default CSC file according to your origin, you can simply check it on your phone's software info by dialing *#1234# or do this;
1. From Menu tap Apps
2. Scroll to and touch Settings>
3. Tap More.
4. Scroll to and touch About device.
5. On this screen you'll see the Android version and current Software version of the device are displayed.
6. Tap More info

The highlighted three letters after the model number signifies the country or carrier product code or the consumer specification code or customer sales code.

Now sometimes this seems not to work on international Galaxy S5, because some CSC files are universal or got the Multi CSC file, meaning it has the same CSC file to any other country. You can simply use the below method to check your current CSC code.

Determining Galaxy S5 CSC Code using Kies 3


You can also use Kies 3 to determine your Samsung Galaxy S5 CSC code. Just download and install Kies 3 into your computer then connect your Galaxy S5 using the supplied USB data cable. Then look  for the latest firmware version of your Galaxy S5 in basic information tab. See this picture below, as it shows you an example of the UK's version of Galaxy S5 SM-G900F CSC code.

 If you found out like that in your Galaxy S5 and you are in England then you must be okay when you want to update via Kies and OTA.   But if you are in other parts in Europe, Middle East  and Asia then you may face issues updating through Kies or OTA on any future firmware updates. So the only way you can retain back your country or carrier CSC code you must only need to re-install the specific firmware build that match to your country or carrier.

Installing an AT&T Galaxy S5 G900A stock firmware to Sprint Galaxy S5 G900P may only ruin the device and vice versa.

Tricks for Changing CSC Code While Flashing the Stock Firmware


Sometimes when you just flashed the stock firmware it will not change the CSC code in jut one way around. The below method might help to obtain the CSC file you want.
  • Make sure to recharge your phone before anything else.
  • Fully back-up all important data stored from your phone. You may use Kies 3 to back up and restore or through your Google and Samsung account.

1. Run and configure Odin. Do not check "Re-Partition" and "Auto Reboot" check boxes.
2. Load the stock firmware in the PDA button.
3. Set the phone in download mode (Volume Down+Home+Power button). Then connect the phone in your computer.
4. Hit the "Start" button and then wait.
5. Once the flashing successfully completed. Do not let it reboot into the normal mode.
6. Reboot into recovery mode (Volume Up+Home+Power button).
7. See if it's applying the CSC file then wait until it finishes and reboot.
8. If you do not see the CSC installation, instead choose the "Wipe data/Factory reset". Then repeat flashing the stock firmware. You may then achieved the CSC code flashing the stock firmware on the second attempt.
10. Confirm the CSC code by using Kies 3 and see if the CSC code has changed.

How to Install and Return Back the Original Firmware on Galaxy S5 SM-G900H

What are these Firmware or Stock ROM?


Stock ROMs contains the binary images or data files of the entire software application,  including such as these types of files:
* Sbl.bin
* cache.img
* factoryfs.img
* hidden.img
* modem.bin
* param.lfs
* zImage

Stock ROM is classified as the original firmware which has been released via Samsung Kies official firmware server. These are generally being taken from Kies and carefully re-bundled to produce a flash-able file through the use of Odin flasher application. Within the stock ROM are enclosed the individual Android system applications. These includes
the Bootloader,  AP, CP, and CSC.

Bootloader - This is actually  the boot image and some encrypted hidden data is located here, patches and tweaks also starts here.
AP – This the software/firmware build number version and consists to a code of numbers and letters
CP – This renders the specific Baseband or device modem data (GSM/3G/4G/LTE).
This where it contains the default settings of each specific geographical region, carrier or network providers network data connections.
CSC – Refers to the specific country or carriers for that said firmware is being build for.
PIT – the PIT file refers as ‘Partition Information Table’. This is ideal for for fixing bricked devices if in some way has something changed with the partition table layout of the phone’s system memory. But in normal flashing, you should not use this file, or you may screw up your phone if handed carelessly.

Q: Does it safe to flash stock ROM?

Important but yet foe safety guidelines just before using the stock firmware


  • Ensure that your Galaxy S5′s battery power is full or recharge it.
  • Stock ROM packages comes in two formats the ‘Full-Wipe’ (delete your stored data after flashing) and the ‘Non-Wipe’ (it doesn’t delete your phone’s stored data) but it is highly recommended to make a back up all important files stored from your phone’s internal memory – contacts, messages, etc.  before flashing no-matter if it is Full-Wipe or Non-Wipe,  just to be safe and ensure that your stored data are in  safe  if something went wrong during the flashing process.
  • Remember or back up the APN settings of your device. ( This only done if you try to install other regions stock ROM.
  • Use a PC or laptop that runs in Windows OS, with a good and perfectly working USB serial port.  Odin will not work on MAC OS. – Use the supplied USB cable for your Galaxy S5.
  • Enable USB debugging mode if you are having issues connectingyour device to the computer try to enable the this option. In your Samsung Galaxy Note 3, go to Settings>> About device>> then look for the firmware build number and then tap that build number for around 7-times until a message pop-ups that says something “congratulations you are now a developer”.
  • Remove the external  micro SD card if you have one, to avoid any failures and error during the flashing process.
  • TURN OFF the Reactivation Lock – juts tap on Settings>>Security>>Reactivation Lock and then uncheck the Turn Reactivation lock on. This is only needed if you already turned-it-ON, from which you cannot modify the system when it’s turned-ON.
  • Do a “Hard Reset” if you have a lot of 3rd party applications installed from your phone, this is useful to gain a smooth flashing. (Just make sure that you already back up all your important files before resetting your device. – Ensure that KIES is closed and not running in the system tray! Kies will interrupt and doesn’t like Odin, it will block you from flashing.

Download your Galaxy S5 Original Firmware or Stock ROM according to your phone’s Country/Carrier of origin.


I can’t put it all up here, so you may find the most latest firmware updates. Stock ROM are case sensitive and may result to undesired outcomes if misused. Each stock ROM was built to a specific product code variant. Asian and European version of Galaxy S5 SM-G900H  stock ROM cannot be used on other regions like U.S. Canada Middle East, Africa, New Zealand, Australia for it might result into unwanted bricks or other problems such as data connectivity and signal lost.
Take note! Select as well as install the correct stock ROM according to the specific model number of your Galaxy S5. DO NOT even try to install to other SGS 5 with different model numbers for it will harm your device or might resulted into unbearable bricks.

Step 2: Extract the downloaded stock ROM


You need to extract the downloaded file which is packed in zip or rar files, so that you’ll get the tar.md5 file.

Step 3: Run and Configure Odin


Run Odin downloader Odin3_v3.09 on your PC desktop. Watch out the check-boxes options on the right top of Odin, ensure that the ‘RE-PARTITION’ is unchecked, only  the ‘AUTO-REBOOT and ‘F.RESET TIME’ checkboxes are both remained checked.

Step 6: Reboot your Galaxy S5 into Download Mode

To reboot the Galaxy S5 into  download mode , you need to turn the power off.  After it completely shut off,  just  press and hold the Volume Down key,  Home button and the PowerON/OFF button simultaneously.

You should then prompted into a warning screen and asking you  to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, just simply press volume up to get into download mode. The download mode then displays an Android robot and say’s “Downloading.. Do not turn off target!!”

Step 5: Connect your Phone to PC or Laptop


Once you already reboot the phone in download mode,  simply connect the phone to your PC or laptop USB.
In Odin window – the ID:COM box will turn to blue color and indicates the COM port number and a word “Added” on a log box will prompt you that the device is already detected or recognized by Odin.

Your COM port number might be different from mine. If you do not see a COM port number then there’s something missing or wrong. You may read again from the top of this post.

Step 6: Load the binary .tar.md5 file


Single Packaged Stock ROM
If the stock ROM is pack in One .tar.md5 file only the PDA, CSC and Phone modem are already included to it. Now, you need to just simply click on the PDA button, then browse to the folder where the .tar or .tar.md5 you have previously extracted and then select and load it.
It may look like this: Kies_Home_G900HXXU1ANCi_G900HOJV1ANCH.tar.md5.

Build numbers varies on each product code, specific geographical region and network CSC (Consumer Software Customization) codes. Like for example in Galaxy S5 it also comes such this:

Stock ROM with Multiple Files with PDA, CSC and PHONE files
If the files came with  individual .tar like Bootloader, AP, CSC and CP
packages, you’ll need to load each specific file formats on each designated buttons.

Bootloader button – select the .tar file associated with a name CODE after the build number like – Boot_G900HXXU1ANCI_xxxxx_.tar.md5
AP button – select the .tar file associated with a name CODE after the build number like – AP_G900HXXU1ANCI_xxxxx_.tar.md5
CP button – .tar file associated with a name ‘MODEM’ after the build number like – CP_G900HXXU1ANCI_xxxxx_.tar.md5
CSC button – .tar file associated with a name ‘CSC’ after the build number like – CSC_G900HXXU1ANCI_xxxxx_.tar.md5

Step 7: Start Flashing or Installing the stock ROM


Once if all set and ready to fire-up, hit the “START” button in Odin to begin flashing the stock ROM.
Do not ever interrupt the phone while already in flashing progress, like disconnecting the cable or turning off the device. Just wait until it completely finish.

Step 8: Watch out for the word PASS!!


When the Stock ROM installation successfully completes, you will then see a word “PASS” in Odin. This indicates that the flashing was already finish, and on the log box it says “All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)”. The phone will just then automatically reboot, then it’s to remove it from PC or laptop USB connection.

Confirm your fresh firmware installed by typing *#1234# or
Go to Settings>About Phone>Firmware info.
You can also do factory reset by dialing *2767*3855#.
Check and reconfigure your APN settings when data networks connection issues encountered. This only happens if you installed other regions stock ROM.

Possible errors that you may encountered, this is based on my own experience while flashing stock ROM on Samsung Android devices. These are just a few hints on how to resolved it.


Q: I got an error message that says “Set-up connection Failed” ?
A:  Do the following steps:
1. Check your USB connection from the phone to PC,
2. Connect to another PC USB port
3. Check and try to another USB cable
4. Re-install the USB driver.

Q: Odin just suddenly stuck in the middle of nowhere while in flashing progress, It isn’t responding at all?
A: Check for possible program that might interrupt the process, like disabling the anti-virus and closing any running programs. Try to use another PC or laptop,
Q: I experienced bootloop or the phone just stuck on Welcome Logo (phone always stop at bootanimation) and it won’t boot normally?
A: You can fix it via recovery mode option, do this: Boot in recovery mode
1. Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power button.
2. Use volume keys to select, Up and Down and Power or Home key to select the option
3. Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Home button.
4. Next select the Wipe Cache Partition
5. Lastly, select Reboot System Now to reboot your Galaxy S5 in Normal mode.

At first there was the 4.4.2 firmware build G900FXXU1ANCE seen in Europe Galaxy S5 SM-G900F equipped with (Snapdragon 801) Quad-core processor. But yet another firmware with build numbers G900FXXU1ANCF has also seen on numerous carrier branded SGS 5 devices.  The G900FXXU1ANCF has similar build date to NCE but the change-list value is quite higher, so basically this is the factory firmware brought in select Galaxy S5 according to carrier operators in Europe and Southeast Asia.

How to Install and Return Back the Original Firmware on Galaxy S5 SM-G900F


Sooner or later if you alter your Galaxy S5 you will end-up and  come through this. Once you root or install in custom ROM and then you want to return back your Galaxy S5 to its original firmware, then this is what you need.

What is a Stock ROM?


Stock ROMs are the firmware that has been released from Samsung Kies official firmware server. These are being pulled from Kies by an Android firmware experts and carefully re-bundled it to make it flashable by using Odin flasher tool, via CWM and some prepared tool like chainfires’ Mobile Odin. This guide here tackles an Odin flashable stock ROM only, you might also see other methods like flashing via CWM and Mobile Odin (whuch is to be added soon).

Stock ROMs contains the binary and image files of the whole software packaged, like these:

Important Reminders before Flashing Galaxy S5 SM-G900F Stock ROM


  • Ensure that your Galaxy S5′s battery power is full or recharge it.
  • Stock ROM packages comes in two formats the ‘Full-Wipe’ (delete your stored data after flashing) and the ‘Non-Wipe’ (it doesn’t delete your phone’s stored data) but it is highly recommended to make a back up all important files stored from your phone’s internal memory – contacts, messages, etc.  before flashing no-matter if it is Full-Wipe or Non-Wipe,  just to be safe and ensure that your stored data are in  safe  if something went wrong during the flashing process.
  • Remember or back up the APN settings of your device. ( This only done if you try to install other regions stock ROM.
  • Use a PC or laptop that runs in Windows OS, with a good and perfectly working USB serial port.  Odin will not work on MAC OS. – Use the supplied USB cable for your Galaxy S5.
  • Enable USB debugging mode if you are having issues connectingyour device to the computer try to enable the this option. In your Samsung Galaxy Note 3, go to Settings>> About device>> then look for the firmware build number and then tap that build number for around 7-times until a message pop-ups that says something “congratulations you are now a developer”.
  • Remove the external  micro SD card if you have one, to avoid any failures and error during the flashing process.
  • TURN OFF the Reactivation Lock – juts tap on Settings>>Security>>Reactivation Lock and then uncheck the Turn Reactivation lock on. This is only needed if you already turned-it-ON, from which you cannot modify the system when it’s turned-ON.
  • Do a “Hard Reset” if you have a lot of 3rd party applications installed from your phone, this is useful to gain a smooth flashing. (Just make sure that you already back up all your important files before resetting your device. – Ensure that KIES is closed and not running in the system tray! Kies will interrupt and doesn’t like Odin, it will block you from flashing.

Step 1: Download the needed tools for flashing

Download your Galaxy S5 Original Firmware or Stock ROM according to your phone’s Country/Carrier of origin. I can’t put it all up here, so you may find the most latest build.

Note! Choose and install only the right stock ROM on each specified Galaxy S5 model number, DO NOT install to other model numbers for it will harm your device or resulting to possible bricks.


Stock ROM are case sensitive and may result to undesired outcomes if used improperly.. Eachstock ROM was built to a specific product code variant. South America version SM-G900F  stock ROM cannot be used on other regions like U.S. Canada, Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa, New Zealand, Australia for it might result into unwanted bricks or other problems such as data connectivity and signal lost.

You can grab the firmware files at samsung-updates. Just enter the build this build number “G900FXXU1ANCF” in the search form” or you also choose the latest firmware available according to your  country or network provider.

Step 2: Extract the downloaded stock ROM


You need to extract the downloaded file which is packed in zip or rar files, so that you’ll get the tar.md5 file.

Step 3: Run and Configure Odin


Run Odin downloader Odin3_v3.09 on your PC desktop. Watch out the check-boxes options on the right top of Odin, ensure that the ‘RE-PARTITION’ is unchecked, only  the ‘AUTO-REBOOT and ‘F.RESET TIME’ checkboxes are both remained checked.


Step 4: Reboot your Galaxy S5 into Download Mode


To reboot the Galaxy S5 into  download mode , you need to turn the power off.  After it completely shut off,  just  press and hold the Volume Down key,  Home button and the PowerON/OFF button simultaneously.

You should then prompted into a warning screen and asking you  to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, just simply press volume up to get into download mode. The download mode then displays an Android robot and say’s “Downloading.. Do not turn off target!!”

Step 5: Connect your Phone to PC or Laptop


Once you already reboot the phone in download mode,  simply connect the phone to your PC or laptop USB.
In Odin window – the ID:COM box will turn to blue color and indicates the COM port number and a word “Added” on a log box will prompt you that the device is already detected or recognized by Odin.

Your COM port number might be different from mine. If you do not see a COM port number then there’s something missing or wrong. You may read again from the top of this post.

Step 6: Load the binary .tar.md5 file


Single Packaged Stock ROM
If the stock ROM is pack in One .tar.md5 file only the PDA, CSC and Phone modem are already included to it. Now, you need to just simply click on the PDA button, then browse to the folder where the .tar or .tar.md5 you have previously extracted and then select and load it.
Just like this image below, I used United Kingdom unbranded Galaxy S5 stock ROM on this guide, so it came as Kies_Home_G900FXXU1ANCF_G900FOXXU1ANC5.tar.md5.

Build numbers varies on each product code, specific geographical region and network CSC (Consumer Software Customization) codes. Like for example in Galaxy S5 it also comes such this:

Stock ROM with Multiple Files with Bootloader, AP, CSC and CP files
If the files contains on individual packages, you’ll need to load each specific file formats on each designated buttons.

Bootloader button – select the .tar file associated with a name CODE after the build number like – Boot_G900FXXU1ANCF_xxxxx_.tar.md5
AP button – select the .tar file associated with a name CODE after the build number like – AP_G900FXXU1ANCF_xxxxx_.tar.md5
CP button – .tar file associated with a name ‘MODEM’ after the build number like – CP_G900FXXU1ANCF_xxxxx_.tar.md5
CSC button – .tar file associated with a name ‘CSC’ after the build number like – CSC_G900FXXU1ANCF_xxxxx_.tar.md5
BL button – select the .tar file associated with a name ‘Boot’ after the build number like – BL_G900FXXU1ANCF_xxxxx_.tar.md5

Step 7: Start Flashing or Installing the stock ROM


Once if all set and ready to fire-up, hit the “START” button in Odin to begin flashing the stock ROM.
Do not ever interrupt the phone while already in flashing progress, like disconnecting the cable or turning off the device. Just wait until it completely finish.

Step 8: Watch out for the word PASS!!


When the Stock ROM installation successfully completes, you will then see a word “PASS” in Odin. This indicates that the flashing was already finish, and on the log box it says “All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)”. The phone will just then automatically reboot, then it’s to remove it from PC or laptop USB connection.

Confirm your fresh firmware installed by typing *#1234# or
Go to Settings>About Phone>Firmware info.
You can also do factory reset by dialing *2767*3855#.
Check and reconfigure your APN settings when data networks connection issues encountered. This only happens if you installed other regions stock ROM.

Possible errors that you may encountered, this is based on my own experience while flashing stock ROM on Samsung Android devices. These are just a few hints on how to resolved it.


Q: I got an error message that says “Set-up connection Failed” ?
A:  Do the following steps:

1. Check your USB connection from the phone to PC,
2. Connect to another PC USB port
3. Check and try to another USB cable
4. Re-install the USB driver.

Q: Odin just suddenly stuck in the middle of nowhere while in flashing progress, It isn’t responding at all?
A: Check for possible program that might interrupt the process, like disabling the anti-virus and closing any running programs.
Try to use another PC or laptop,

Q: I experienced bootloop or the phone just stuck on Welcome Logo (phone always stop at bootanimation) and it won’t boot normally?
A: You can fix it via recovery mode option, do this:
Boot in recovery mode
1. Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power button.
2. Use volume keys to select, Up and Down and Power or Home key to select the option
3. Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Home button.
4. Next select the Wipe Cache Partition
5. Lastly, select Reboot System Now to reboot your Galaxy S5 in Normal mode.

What is a Stock ROM?


Stock ROM is classified as the original firmware which has been released via Samsung Kies official firmware server. These are generally being taken from Kies and carefully re-bundled to produce a flashable through the use of Odin flasher application.

Stock ROMs contains the binary images or data files of the entire software application,  including such as these types of files:
* Sbl.bin
* cache.img
* factoryfs.img
* hidden.img
* modem.bin
* param.lfs
* zImage
Within the stock ROM are enclosed the individual Android system applications. These includes
the Bootloader,  AP, CP, and CSC.

Bootloader - This is actually  the boot image and some encrypted hidden data is located here, patches and tweaks also starts here.
AP – This the software/firmware build number version and consists to a code of numbers and letters
CP – This renders the specific Baseband or device modem data (GSM/3G/4G/LTE).
This where it contains the default settings of each specific geographical region, carrier or network providers network data connections.
CSC – Refers to the specific country or carriers for that said firmware is being build for.
PIT – the PIT file refers as ‘Partition Information Table’. This is ideal for for fixing bricked devices if in some way has something changed with the partition table layout of the phone’s system memory.   • Do a “Hard Reset” if you have a lot of 3rd party applications installed from your phone, this is useful to gain a smooth flashing. (Just make sure that you already back up all your important files before resetting your device. – Ensure that KIES is closed and not running in the system tray! Kies will interrupt and doesn’t like Odin, it will block you from flashing.

Step 1: Download the needed tools for flashing

Galaxy S5 USB Driver  download

Download your Galaxy S5 Original Firmware or Stock ROM according to your phone’s Country/Carrier of origin. I can’t put it all up here, so you may find the most latest build.

Note! Choose and install only the right stock ROM on each specified Galaxy S5 model number, DO NOT install to other model numbers for it will harm your device or resulting to possible bricks.


Stock ROM are case sensitive and may result to undesired outcomes if used improperly.. Eachstock ROM was built to a specific product code variant. South America version SM-G900F  stock ROM cannot be used on other regions like U.S. Canada, Asia, Middle East, Africa, New Zealand, Australia for it might result into problems such as data connectivity and signal lost and much worst if you ended-up into bricks.

You can grab the firmware files at samsung-updates. Just enter the build this build number “G900FXXU1ANCE” in the search form” or you also choose the latest firmware available according to your  country or network provider.



Here are the list of  countries and network providers runs with G900FXXU1ANCE 4.4.2 on Galaxy S5 SM-G900F

Step 2: Extract the downloaded stock ROM


You need to extract the downloaded file which is packed in zip or rar files, so that you’ll get the tar.md5 file.

Step 3: Run and Configure Odin


Run Odin downloader Odin3_v3.09 on your PC desktop. Watch out the check-boxes options on the right top of Odin, ensure that the ‘RE-PARTITION’ is unchecked, only  the ‘AUTO-REBOOT and ‘F.RESET TIME’ checkboxes are both remained checked.


Step 4: Reboot your Galaxy S5 into Download Mode


To reboot the Galaxy S5 into  download mode , you need to turn the power off.  After it completely shut off,  just  press and hold the Volume Down key,  Home button and the PowerON/OFF button simultaneously.

You should then prompted into a warning screen and asking you  to press volume up if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, just simply press volume up to get into download mode. The download mode then displays an Android robot and say’s “Downloading.. Do not turn off target!!”

Step 5: Connect your Phone to PC or Laptop


Once you already reboot the phone in download mode,  simply connect the phone to your PC or laptop USB.
In Odin window – the ID:COM box will turn to blue color and indicates the COM port number and a word “Added” on a log box will prompt you that the device is already detected or recognized by Odin.

Your COM port number might be different from mine. If you do not see a COM port number then there’s something missing or wrong. You may read again from the top of this post.

Step 6: Load the firmware binary .tar.md5 file


Single Packaged Stock ROM.
If the stock ROM is pack in One .tar.md5 file only the PDA, CSC and Phone modem are already included to it. Now, you need to just simply click on the PDA button, then browse to the folder where the .tar or .tar.md5 you have previously extracted and then select and load it.
It may look like this:  Kies_Home_G900FXXU1ANCE_G900FOXXU1ANCE.tar.md5.

Build numbers varies on each product code, specific geographical region and network CSC (Consumer Software Customization) codes. Like for example in Galaxy S5 it also comes such this:

Stock ROM with Multiple Files with Bootloader, AP, CSC and CP files.
If the file contains on individual packages, you’ll need to load each specific file formats on each designated buttons.

Bootloader button – select the .tar file associated with a name CODE after the build number like – Boot_G900FXXU1ANCE_xxxxx_.tar.md5
AP button – select the .tar file associated with a name CODE after the build number like – AP_G900FXXU1ANCE_xxxxx_.tar.md5
CP button – .tar file associated with a name ‘MODEM’ after the build number like – CP_G900FXXU1ANCE_xxxxx_.tar.md5
CSC button – .tar file associated with a name ‘CSC’ after the build number like – CSC_G900FXXU1ANCE_xxxxx_.tar.md5
BL button – select the .tar file associated with a name 'Boot' after the build number like – BL_G900FXXU1ANCE_xxxxx_.tar.md5

Step 7: Start Flashing or Installing the stock ROM


Once if all set and ready to fire-up, hit the “START” button in Odin to begin flashing the stock ROM.
Do not ever interrupt the phone while already in flashing progress, like disconnecting the cable or turning off the device. Just wait until it completely finish.

Step 8: Watch out for the word PASS!!


When the Stock ROM installation successfully completes, you will then see a word “PASS” in Odin. This indicates that the flashing was already finish, and on the log box it says “All threads completed. (succeed 1 / failed 0)”. The phone will just then automatically reboot, then it’s to remove it from PC or laptop USB connection.

Confirm your fresh firmware installed by typing *#1234# or
Go to Settings>About Phone>Firmware info.
You can also do factory reset by dialing *2767*3855#.
Check and reconfigure your APN settings when data networks connection issues encountered. This only happens if you installed other regions stock ROM.

Possible errors that you may encountered, this is based on my own experience while flashing stock ROM on Samsung Android devices. These are just a few hints on how to resolved it.


Q: I got an error message that says “Set-up connection Failed” ?
A:  Do the following steps:
1. Check your USB connection from the phone to PC,
2. Connect to another PC USB port
3. Check and try to another USB cable
4. Re-install the USB driver.

Q: Odin just suddenly stuck in the middle of nowhere while in flashing progress, It isn’t responding at all?
A: Check for possible program that might interrupt the process, like disabling the anti-virus and closing any running programs. Try to use another PC or laptop,
Q: I experienced bootloop or the phone just stuck on Welcome Logo (phone always stop at bootanimation) and it won’t boot normally?
A: You can fix it via recovery mode option, do this: Boot in recovery mode
1. Press and hold Volume Up, Home and Power button.
2. Use volume keys to select, Up and Down and Power or Home key to select the option
3. Select Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Home button.
4. Next select the Wipe Cache Partition
5. Lastly, select Reboot System Now to reboot your Galaxy S5 in Normal mode.

How to Install and Return Back the Galaxy S5 SM-G900H to Official Firmware

What is a Stock ROM?


Stock ROM is classified as the original firmware which has been released via Samsung Kies official firmware server. These are generally being taken from Kies and carefully re-bundled to produce a flashable through the use of Odin flasher application. Stock ROMs contains the binary images or data files of the entire software application,  including such as these types of files: * Sbl.bin * cache.img * factoryfs.img * hidden.img * modem.bin * param.lfs * zImage Within the stock ROM are enclosed the individual Android system applications. These includes the Bootloader,  AP, CP, and CSC.
Bootloader - This is actually  the boot image and some encrypted hidden data is located here, patches and tweaks also starts here.
AP – This the software/firmware build number version and consists to a code of numbers and letters
CP – This renders the specific Baseband or device modem data (GSM/3G/4G/LTE). This where it contains the default settings of each specific geographical region, carrier or network providers network data connections.
CSC – Refers to the specific country or carriers for that said firmware is being build for.
PIT – the PIT file refers as ‘Partition Information Table’. This is ideal for for fixing bricked devices if in some way has something changed with the partition table layout of the phone’s system memory. But in normal flashing, you should not use this file, or you may screw up your phone if handed carelessly.

FAQ about flashing stock ROM


Q: Does it safe to flash stock ROM?
A: There is a possibility throughout flashing a firmware on both the authentic and the customized ROMs. Any kind of interruption took place can cause your device directly straight into soft-bricks. If this is your very first time heard of this process, it's strongly recommended you to search through any additional information so you will truly understand of what this process is all about.

Q: Does Flashing will remove all my data stored on the device.
A: Yes and NO. There are two types of stock ROM, the wiped and non-wiped version. It is highly recommended that you should back-up all your important data stored in the phone’s memory like contacts, messages before flashing.

Q: Do I Need to ROOT or UNROOT my phone before flashing stock ROM?
A: NO need to root or unroot yor device, but you will loose root once flashing is made. So, you need to re-root your device again.

Q: Does Flashing stock ROM to my phone will erase the network lock?
A: NO. Your network (or SIM) lock will however remain active.

Q: Does Flashing stock ROM will remove root on my phone?
A: Yes. If you currently have rooted, your phone will return back to original factory settings after flashing. You need to re-root again to install any 3rd party applications.

Q: Does flashing an operator specific firmware will restrict my open phone to that operator’s network?
A: NO. Your phone still remain open for any Operator SIM. Operator specific builds usually containing “only specific country or carrier provider” logo, bloatwares, wallpapers and/or browser settings, etc.

A safety guidelines just before using the stock firmware


  • Ensure that your Galaxy S5's battery power is fully recharge
  • Stock ROM packages comes in two formats the ‘Full-Wipe’ (delete your stored data after flashing) and the ‘Non-Wipe’ (it doesn't delete your phone’s stored data) but it is highly recommended to make a back up all important files stored from your phone’s internal memory – contacts, messages, etc.  before flashing no-matter if it is Full-Wipe or Non-Wipe,  just to be safe and ensure that your stored data are in  safe  if something went wrong during the flashing process.
  • Remember or back up the APN settings of your device. ( This only done if you try to install other regions stock ROM.
  • Use a PC or laptop that runs in Windows OS, with a good and perfectly working USB serial port.  Odin will not work on MAC OS. - Use the supplied USB cable for your Galaxy S5.
  • Enable USB debugging mode if you are having issues connectingyour device to the computer try to enable the this option. In your Samsung Galaxy Note 3, go to Settings>> About device>> then look for the firmware build number and then tap that build number for around 7-times until a message pop-ups that says something “congratulations you are now a developer”.
  • Remove the external  micro SD card if you have one, to avoid any failures and error during the flashing process.
  • TURN OFF the Reactivation Lock – juts tap on Settings>>Security>>Reactivation Lock and then uncheck the Turn Reactivation lock on. This is only needed if you already turned-it-ON, from which you cannot modify the system when it’s turned-ON.

Sony Xperia Z1 and Z Ultra Receives 4.3 Update - Brings Display, Bluetooth Music Streaming , Email and WiFi Improvements

Sony's Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z Ultra users will now starts to receive the Android 4.3 update as Sony Mobile finally confirmed the said 4.3 has started to roll out. The 4.3 update will brings additional improvements to the display which has now equipped with a White Balance options in menu settings. There are also several enhancements added, including the Bluetooth Music Streaming, and for WiFi and Email improvements. The 4.3 software is dubbed with firmware build numbers 14.2.A.1.136 and the roll out is in stages.


So for those proud owners of the Sony Xperia Z1 and Sony Xperia Z Ultra should keep an eye of this new Android 4.3 update which can be downloaded using PC Companion for now and not yet available through over-the-air (OTA).
