AT&T Galaxy S6 Gets OTA Update to UCU1AOE2, Maintenance and Various Software Issues Resolved

AT&T has just rolled out software update on Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920A) and Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925A). It's a maintenance release update that brings fixes to various software issues, according to the addressed changelog. The latter is the second Android 5.0.2 Lollipop software update since the device public release. The update build version came as G920AUCU1AOE2 for the Galaxy S6 (SM-G920A) and G925AUCU1AOE2 on Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925A).

Sprint Galaxy S6 & Galaxy S6 Edge Gets VPU1AOE2 Update, a fix on dropped calls problems over LTE

Sprint has yet announced the rolling out of the OE2 update on both Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. It's a maintenance update that occasionally includes stability improvements, bug fixes, enhancements and further improvements to performance. The OE2 update will specifically targets and are about to resolve the dropped calls problem which has been reported by some users and has been found on previous version (G920PVPU1AOCF), according to Sprint. Some users are experiencing both dropped calls and have had said that their Galaxy S6 will only perfectly works when the network mode is set to "CDMA only". But once the device network mode is set to "CDMA/LTE or Automatic", then a high rate of dropped calls persist. The update will technically boost the LTE connectivity, to which dropped calls/no service, can't send or receive texts and poor data speeds arises when its signal strength is basically poor.

The OE2 update has now continuously rolled out Over-The-Air OTA update. It is around 130 MB in files size  which only takes from 10 to 15 minutes to download over a strong  WiFi connection.  Once took the update the baseband version will then change to G920PVPU1AOE2 on Galaxy S6 (which previously in G920PVPU1AOCF)  and G925PVPU1AOE2 on Galaxy S6 Edge (also previously in G922PVPU1AOCF).  Just simply go into your phone Settings > System update > Update now to check the update manually right now.

Samsung has been sending out the official Lollipop update on Galaxy S5 SM-G900H for a quite some time and has been continuously rolling out in several countries until now.  However,  there are still some countries has not yet to see the coming of the Lollipop updates while others gets several Lollipop update version from the past three months period.  Way back in January, we have seen the first official Lollipop update dubbed with build version G900HXXU1BOA7 in Europe .  Then followed by another Lollipop update build version G900HXXU1BOB8 for the Galaxy S5 G900H users in the Americas and the build version G900HXXU1BOC3 in Asia.

Recently, we have spotted several rounds of Galaxy S5 SM-G900H Lollipop update which are seeding out in select countries for this month of April 2015. Noting that Samsung has released a variety of different Android 5.0 Lollipop build version to each specific continent across the globe.  So here are the roundup of what software build version and which countries could benefit this new rounds of Lollipop update.

Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge International Shipped Stock Firmware Now Available

The Samsung Galaxy S6  and Galaxy S6 Edge for international versions with model numbers "SM-G920F"  and  "SM-G925F" shipped firmware is now available for grab. This is technically the stock firmware during the production of Samsung Galaxy S6  and Galaxy S6 Edge in Samsung's factories. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge first Android smartphone to have 64-bit Snapdragon 810 that supports 4G LTE Advanced Cat 6. And 2K UHD display, 4GB RAM with 20 megapixel rear camera and the front 5 megapixel HD cameras smartphone. Yet both the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge devices are on its way for shipping in various countries around the world, these firmwares are now held available  in Samsung's firmware server to which we can actually see it using Kies software update utility tools.

The Lollipop update on AT&T's Galaxy S5 (SM-N900A) has finally rolling out! The latter is dubbed with build number G900AUCU3BOC4 and its based in-line with Android 5.0 Lollipop "LRX21T". Sprint Galaxy S5 Sport SM-G860P gets its official Lollipop update that will bump up the software build version to G860PVPU1BOC5. Verizon Galaxy S5 Lollipop Update G900VVRU1BOC4, 2nd Rollout

Verizon Galaxy S5 SM-G900V  gets new Lollipop update to G900VVRU1BOC4. The update is still base in Android 5.0 "LRX21T"   and this the second time around the latter receives a Lollipop update next to the previous version G900VVRU1BOA8 way back in February.  Noting that Verizon is the first US carrier who unleashed the Lollipop update on Galaxy S5 in USA alone. Whilst some carriers did not released any Lollipop update yet and has stayed in Android 4.4.4 KitKat until now.

The Lollipop update technically brings some new features and enhancements such as Material Design, Lock screen, Touchwiz, Floating action button,  Interruption and Recent.  Just do read at Verizon support page to learn more of these new features are all about.

Here are my top 10 picks on Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 tips and tricks that you might wanna know about.  Noting that the Galaxy S6 Edge has more to offer compared to the Galaxy S6 but technically more or less both devices are bearing the same features. Whilst some carrier branded Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 variants got their own pre-installed bloatwares.

I did not include navigating the default apps here, as I found it odd and you can easily find it in the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 user manual.  So I only selected some useful tips and tricks that might be useful to others, or maybe not.  I guess!  So just read on and check my list if there is something you might have missed.

1. Camera quick launch

Double tap home button to launch the camera in under one second. Enable the double-tap quick launch in the camera options

2. Quick Home button

When the double tap double-tap quick launch in the camera option is enable it causes small delay to the Home button. But if you want to get rid of it and you like to have a much more quicker home button then disable it. Disable the double-tap quick launch in the camera options.

3. Emergency Reboot

Very useful if your Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 is frozen and unresponsive. A  situation where it suddenly hang-up  and isn't responding  at all.  To do this just reboot the device by pressing and holding the Power key and the Volume key  simultaneously for more than 7 seconds to restart it.

4. Battery fast charging

One thing the Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6 have is the fast charging features  but you cannot use the fast charging feature whilst the screen is turned on.  There is some sort of smart switch that detects the device when the screen in on.   The basic logic here is that whilst the screen is turned on it consumed more Battery power as it generates heat and so the charging drastically slows down.  You must turn off the screen to increase the charging speed.

5. Easy way to take Selfie

Take a in single-portraits "selfie"  mode or a "wide-selfie" for group photos. It's easy now on Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy S6,  just  simply frame the image first, and then put your finger on the heart rate sensor under the LED light at the back.

Here's how to do it:
While the device is turned off; Press and hold the Power key, Volume Down key, and Home key at the same time.  Then wait until the screen went black and shakes then let go off the keys when it show's you the recovery mode screen.  While in the recovery screen; using the volume keys, scroll down to where it says "Wipe data/Factory  reset" then select it. US Cellular Galaxy S5 Lollipop Update v5.0 G900R4VXU1BOC1 Rolling

Samsung is now releasing  the Lollipop update on US Cellular Galaxy S5.  The Lollipop update is dubbed with build number G900R4VXU1BOC1, which is base in Android 5.0  (LRX21T) can be seen via Samsung Kies firmware server. Though, there are no any official announcement from Samsung nor US Cellular  at this time being,  it might start to roll out  via Over-The-Air (OTA) update anytime soon.  It seems that the device technically skipped  the Android 4.4.4  KitKat as the G900R4VXU1BOC1  is already an Android version 5.0 that will  directly upgrade from previous Android version 4.4.2 G900R4VXU1ANK1  that has been released in January.

Since the Galaxy S5 Lollipop update has already rolled out and almost completely covered in USA alone. The update was held available  February on Sprint (Galaxy S5 SM-N900P), Verizon (Galaxy S5 SM-G900V) and T-Mobile (Galaxy S5 SM-N900T). US Cellular is now the 4th US carrier provider that had to released the awaited Lollipop update.    On the other hand,  AT&T (Galaxy S5 SM-N900A) is still in the Android 4.4.4 KitKat but might also available very soon.
