The Galaxy S6 Edge+ SM-G928F is getting an updates to build version G928FXXS3BQA7 in the European regions.  The update is not the much awaited Android Nougat update yet, but it's still based in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. This update will only apply the new Android security patches that covers and bumps-up to the date level of 1 January 2017.

How to Update the Galaxy S6  to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow

• Make sure to recharge your phone first.
• Do not forget to backup all of the important data that were stored in the device memory.
• Your Galaxy S6 must still run on the official software version and has not been rooted nor installed with non-official firmware.

Updating the Galaxy S6 edge+ via Over-The-Air (OTA)

This is the usual method on how to check and to perform an update on Galaxy S6 edge+ to the latest software version.  This method is what we called Firmware Update  Over-The-Air and so-called as FOTA or simply OTA update. In most often cases, a notification message will be directly sent out to you by your network provider and by Samsung itself, telling you that there is a new update that has now available for download.  This approach requires you to prepare a strong WiFi connection,  and so it might happen sometimes that one did not receive any software update notification messages;
1.  If and when the device is out of range during the software update roll out  period,
2. Automatic update has been turned off in the device Settings.
However, We can still manually check for the update instead.

• From your Galaxy S6 edge+ Home screen tap on Apps.
• Select the Settings gear icon.

Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center.”  This is a warning message that only appears for those devices that have been rooted and installed with modified and unofficial firmware.  So to be able to get the Software OTA update again, you must Unroot the Galaxy S6 edge+  first using the specified stock firmware for Galaxy S6 edge+ SM-G928F and simply removed any modification that has been installed on it. You have to choose the one that is specifically built for computer, depends on what you have either a PC or Mac.  Once you installed Smart Switch, all you need to do is to connect your Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ on your  computer using the supplied USB  cable.

1. Open Smart Switch in your computer.
2. Connect the Galaxy S6 edge+ into the computer using the supplied USB data cable.

AT&T Galaxy S6 Edge+ Getting Updates to version G928AUCS4CPL1 Not Nougat But Still Marshmallow

Last week AT&T has sent out an update on Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 Active, this time the Galaxy S6 edge+ is also getting the same treatment. The update is dubbed as build version G928AUCS4CPL1, it is not the Nougat update yet but still in Android Marshmallow based. The said update only weighs at 14.7MB in file size and it brings nothing more but the new Android Security patches to which now covers the month of  December 2016.

Moreover, this update is now the 7th Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow released on AT&T Galaxy S6 since June 2016. The Nougat update might start to roll out sooner but we cannot guarantee any exact date to when it could arrive.  Some reports suggest the the Nougat will be rolling out on April, but we couldn't take it into an account until Samsung and the said carrier make an official announcements.

AT&T Galaxy Note 5 Updates to N920AUCS4CPL1, No Nougat Yet, It's December Security Patches

AT&T has just released an OTA update on Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920A), bumping the Android OS version to N920AUCS4CPL1 previous build N920AUCS4CPK1.
The update is still in recent Android Marshmallow OS and not the much awaited Android Nougat updates. It is the same update the device has been receiving from the past couple of months to which brings out the monthly Android security patches. So this time around this labeled update version N920AUCS4CPL1 will move the Android security patch level to December 1, 2016.

AT&T has pushed the first round of OTA updates on Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge for this year. Sprint Galaxy S6, S6 edge and Edge+ Updates to G920PVPU4CPL3 & G925PVPU4CPL3

Sprint has also rolling out the new OTA updates for Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920P), Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925P) and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ (SM-G928P). Sprint Galaxy S5 Updates to version G900PVPU3CPL2, December AndroidSecurity Patches

Sprint has started pushing an OTA update dubbed as build version G900PVPU3CPL2 on Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900P). It's more likely just another security updates to which contains the December Android Security patches. Sprint haven't posted anything about this update yet though. But by judging the update's file size that weighs at around 237 MB,  it considerably includes several bug fixes,  enhanced features and or other system improvements.

In addition, the December Android Security Maintenance Release (SMR) packaged contains 81 security patches for Google Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE), and around 15 security patches for Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE). The G900PVPU3CPL3 OTA update weighs at  approximately 230 MB to download via  Over-The-Air (OTA)  and or by using Kies or Smart Switch for PC. This  update is at its phased released, and  it may take into several days to completely arrive on all Galaxy S5 owners. Yet,  if you haven’t received the notification message, you may manually check the update from time to time until it tells you that the new update is available for grab. Simply just tap on your Galaxy S5  Settings > About device > Software update > Check for update.

Also, keep in mind that you can only get the new update if your device has not been rooted and or currently running on a modified firmware.  You must unroot your device first before taking an OTA update so your device may not get into any issues.

Sprint Galaxy Note 5 Updates to version N920PVPS3BPL1, It's Not Nougat Yet

if your Galaxy Note 5 is from Sprint, then you might already got an update earlier today.  This update will bump the device current Android OS to build version N920PVPS3BPL1 from the previous release version N920PVPS3BPK1.  The update is still in Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow base, and it's not the Android 7.0 Nougat update that we've been waiting for.  Instead, the update is the monthly Security Maintenance Released (SMR) to which now brings the December Android security patches.

Speaking of the Nougat updates, it may arrived later in between March to April 2017.  The Galaxy Note 5 will only receive the Nougat update right after the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge, to which reportedly starts to roll out this month or until February 2017.

Again, this release is another batch of security patch updates and it does not bring any noticeable adverse effect to the device.  It’s not a Nougat update either, but might be the preparation for the said upcoming latest Android version.

Europe Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ December Android Security Updates

Samsung has rolled an update for the international Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F),  and Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G925F) during the holiday season. How to Update Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, and S6 Edge+ via Over-The-Air (OTA)

This is the usual method on how to check and to perform an update on Galaxy S6 edge  to the latest software version.  This method is what we called Firmware Update  Over-The-Air and so-called as FOTA or simply OTA update. In most often cases, a notification message will be directly sent out to you by your network provider and by Samsung itself, telling you that there is a new update that has now available for download.  This approach requires you to prepare a strong WiFi connection,  and so it might happen sometimes that one did not receive any software update notification messages; (1) If and when the device is out of range during the software update roll out  period, (2) Automatic update has been turned off in the device Settings.
However, We can still manually check for the update instead.

Here’s how to do it manually:

• From your Galaxy S6 edge Home screen tap on Apps.
• Select the Settings gear icon.
• Tap About device.
• Tap Software update.
• Tap Check for an update.

It will then notify you that a new update is available for download. But it also says that “Your device software is up to date“, and there is no software update is yet available for grab. You can simply choose Install now if you do so or else Install later if you want to get the update in later time.

Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center.”  This is a warning message that only appears for those devices that have been rooted and installed with modified and unofficial firmware.  So to be able to get the Software OTA update again, you must Unroot the Galaxy S6 edge first, and or removed any modification that has been installed in it.

Another round of Google's Android Security updates is  rolling out on Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F international variants.  The update comes out as build version G900FXXS1CPLV and replaced the previous build version G900FXXS1CPK1. The G900FXXS1CPLV is bearing  the December Android security patches, including general bug-fixes, optimize the device performance, and resolve known issues.

In addition, the December Android Security Maintenance Release (SMR) packaged contains 81 patches for Google Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE), and 15 patches for Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE), according to Samsung Mobile Security bulletin.

How to Update the Samsung Galaxy S5 to Official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow?

Samsung urges us to prepare the following important notes to consider before performing the software update.  I have also added some useful insights why you should follow this procedure to keep your  phone in safe.

Recharge the phone’s battery – You should make sure your device is fully recharged before performing the software update. Do not also remove the battery during the software update is in progress. A power failure may cause damaged to your device that might result to what we called “soft-bricks”.  If this happened on your device, it may just stuck on Samsung logo or welcome screen and can’t reboot normally.

Backup important data – You should back-up your important files, including contacts, emails, messages, photos, videos, apps and other stuff. Like I said while during software update process is interrupted there is a possibility that your data stored from your device internal SD card may lose or deleted when a sudden unexpected failure happened and it forces you to perform a factory data reset which basically wipes your phone’s memory.

Ensure that your Galaxy S5 should still running in an official or factory firmware and hasn’t been rooted – Your device should not be modified or rooted, there are some certain circumstances that a modified and rooted Galaxy S5 SM-G900F may not accept any official software update anymore or it can accept an update but it might harm your device once the update has made. Learn about the new Samsung KNOX security suite. Most known error that says ‘firmware upgrade encountered an issue, please select recovery mode in Kies and try again‘ or “Your device has been modified Software update are not available” you should try to avoid that from happening.

How to Perform an Update via Over-The-Air (OTA)?

This is usually how the carrier branded or locked Samsung Galaxy S5, performs a software update.  This method is Firmware Update through over the air or called as OTA update, which most often  a notification message will directly send out to you from your network provider or Samsung and notifies you that there is a new update available for download.  If you did not receive any notification messages you can manually check for the update instead.  Doing this you may only tap on your Galaxy S5 SM-G900F Settings > About Device, tap Software Update.

The second method is a firmware update through Samsung Kies / Smart Switch for PC. You may head over to your  local Samsung support page from where you can download Samsung Kies from there, and install it in your Windows or Mac computer. Choose the new Kies 3 which supports the Galaxy S5 SM-G900F and other Samsung devices running with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS .  Once you installed Kies 3, all you need is to connect your Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F to a PC using the USB data cable, then simply run and follow Kies or Smart Switch on-screen’s software update instruction.

For advanced users and for those who have a rooted Galaxy S5, you can download the stock firmware instead – Galaxy S5 Stock Firmware. Since your device has been modified it will no longer receive an over-the-air OTA. So the only way to get the marshmallow update is to fully unroot your Galaxy S5 first.

Verizon has just pushed an OTA update dubbed as build version MMB29M.G900VVRS2DPL1 on Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900V). The update is said to optimize the device performance, resolve known issues and apply the latest security patches, according to big red's announcement. This is considerably means that this update will not bring any adverse effect nor noticeable changes to the device. However, the latter contains the December Android Security maintenance packaged released by Google itself.

Furthermore, this update will replace the previous released version  MMB29M.G900VVRU2DPJ2 and it is now the 5th Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update we’ve seen landed on Verizon Galaxy S5 alone.  Even though this device has been already succeeded by the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S7 for a quite some time now, but it is still rocking around competing the newer ones.

Australian owners of the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge (SM-G928I) will receive an update to version G928IDVU3BPL2 starting on the 30th of December.  The update will be release to the  factory unlocked, including Optus  and Telsta's Galaxy S6 edge+.

Galaxy Note 5 N920I Updates to version N920IDVU3BPL2 in Australia

A new update is heading  to Australia's Samsung Galaxy Note 5  (SM-N920I). This released were dubbed as build version N920IDVU3BPL2 and  it's said to bring the new Google's Android security update for the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It is quite similar to the previous released build version N920IDVU3BPJ3 that was brought the October Android security packaged, while this one contains the December Android security patches.

In addition,  this new software builds are still in a testing phase and will soon start to roll out by the end of December, according to Australian carriers such as Optus and Telstra. However, the factory unlocked version of the Galaxy Note 5 ("XSA" variant) might soon receive the update much earlier before the 30th of December.

Canadian Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+ receiving updates to version G920W8VLU5CPK3 & G920W8VLU5CPK4

All major Canadian carriers are deploying the new OTA updates for the Samsung Galaxy S6 (SM-G920W8), Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925W8) and the Galaxy S6 edge+ (SM-G928W8). These updates is said to bring several bug fixes and applies the new Android Security Patches to which now contains the November 1, 2016 security package.

However, these updates were bundled in a different firmware build version. Bell's Galaxy S6 gets the build version G920W8VLU5CPK3, while other carriers like Rogers and Telus will also receive the build version G920W8VLU5CPK4. But all carriers Galaxy S6 edge receives the same build version dubbed as G925W8VLU5CPK4.

In the meantime, the Galaxy S6 edge+ has bumped-up to build version G928W8VLU4BPK4 from previous released version G928W8VLU4BPJ1.  Only few carriers has  showed up  it's availability at this moment,  but might going to be seen rolling out this week to all Galaxy S6 edge+ owners in Canada.

T-Mobile Galaxy S5 Updates to version G900TUVS1GPK3 and G900T3UVS3GPK3

T-Mobile Mobile is sending out OTA updates to Samsung Galaxy S5 this week.

First up, the Galaxy S5 SM-G900T will receive an update to version G900TUVS1GPK3, while the other variants the Galaxy S5 SM-G900T3 will also get the new update version G900T3UVS3GPK3.

Both updates will bring the domestic data roaming improvements and also applies the new Android security patches, to which now covers the month of November. Noting that the previous updates (version G900TUVS1GPI1 and G900T3UVS3GPI1) of these T-Mobile Galaxy S5's has brought the August and September Android security patch.

Backup important data – You should back-up your important files, including contacts, emails, messages, photos, videos, apps and other stuff. Like I said while during software update process is interrupted there is a possibility that your data stored from your device internal SD card may lose or deleted when a sudden unexpected failure happened and it forces you to perform a factory data reset which basically wipes your phone’s memory.

Ensure that your Galaxy S5 should still running in an official or factory firmware and hasn’t been rooted nor modified – Your device should not be modified or rooted, there are some certain circumstances that a modified and rooted Galaxy S5 SM-G900T may not accept any official software update anymore or it can accept an update but it might harm your device once the update has made. How to Perform an Update via Over-The-Air (OTA)?

This is usually how the carrier branded or locked Samsung Galaxy S5, performs a software update.  This method is Firmware Update through over the air or called as OTA update, which most often  a notification message will directly send out to you from your network provider or Samsung and notifies you that there is a new update available for download.  If you did not receive any notification messages you can manually check for the update instead.  Doing this you may only tap on your Galaxy S5 SM-G900T Settings >About Device > Software Update.

• From the Home screen, touch the Settings icon.


• Touch About device.


• Touch Software update.

It will automatically tell you that a new update is available or your software is up to date when there is none yet. You can simply tap install now when you want to perform an update or install later.

How to Update the Galaxy S5 Thru Kies / Smart Switch?

The second method is a firmware update through Samsung Kies / Smart Switch for PC. You may head over to your  local Samsung support page from where you can download Samsung Kies from there, and install it in your Windows or Mac computer. Choose the new Kies 3 which supports the Galaxy S5 SM-G900T and other Samsung devices running with Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS .  Once you installed Kies / Smart Switch, all you need is connect your Samsung Galaxy S5 into your PC using the USB data cable, then simply run and follow Kies or Smart Switch on-screen’s software update instruction.

For those who have a rooted T-Mobile Galaxy S5, you folks might need to download the stock firmware itself – either the G900TUVS1GPK3 for SM-G900T or G900TUVS1GPK3 for the SM-G900T3 model, as you may no longer get the Over The air update as long as your device has been modified – Galaxy S5 SM-G900T Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Firmware.  So the only way to upgrade your phone to Marshmallow is to manually install the official Android 6.0.1 Marsmallow firmware itself. This process will completely unroot and remove any modification in your Galaxy S5 phone and restores it back to its official or factory default firmware.

Canadian Galaxy Note 5 Gets Marshmallow version N920W8VLU4BPK4 Updates

The Canadian Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920W8) might receive the new OTA update anytime soon.  We have just spotted an update dubbed as build version N920W8VLU4BPK4 to which are about to start rolling out to all major Canadian carriers.

This upcoming update is still in Marshmallow base, and yet it's not the Nougat that everyone might have been sneaking around.  It's basically another packaged of Google's monthly Android Security Patch updates to which covers the November fixes.  Noting that the previous released version N920W8VLU4BPJ1 has moved the device Android security patch level to October 1, 2016. Whilst this one will also simply bump up it's level to November 1, 2016.

T-Mobile Galaxy S6 edge+ Updates to version G928TUVU4DPK6

The T-Mobile Galaxy S6 edge+ (SM-G928T) has also joined receiving the November Android security patches. A new OTA update dubbed as build version G928TUVU4DPK6 is officially announced by T-Mobile to hit all Galaxy S6 edge+ users starting December 6.

Along with the Android security updates is the domestic data roaming improvements and the fixes for DTMF (dual tone multi frequency).
So if you’ve got the T-Mobile Galaxy  S6 edge+,  you must check for updates right if you haven't received the  notification message yet.

How to Update the S6 edge+ via Over-The-Air (OTA)

This is the usual method on how to check and to perform an update on Galaxy S6 edge+  to the latest software version.  This method is what we called Firmware Update  Over-The-Air and so-called as FOTA or simply OTA update. In most often cases, a notification message will be directly sent out to you by your network provider and by Samsung itself, telling you that there is a new update that has now available for download.  This approach requires you to prepare a strong WiFi connection,  and so it might happen sometimes that one did not receive any software update notification messages; (1) If and when the device is out of range during the software update roll out  period, (2) Automatic update has been turned off in the device Settings.
However, We can still manually check for the update instead.

Here’s how to do it manually:

• From your Galaxy S6 edge+ Home screen tap on Apps.
• Select the Settings gear icon.
• Tap About device.
• Tap Software update.
• Tap Check for an update.

It will then notify you that a new update is available for download. But it also says that “Your device software is up to date“, and there is no software update is yet available for grab. You can simply choose Install now if you do so or else Install later if you want to get the update in later time.

But if ever you might have had received this message while checking software update that says something like “The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center.”  This is a warning message that only appears for those devices that have been rooted and installed with modified and unofficial firmware.  So to be able to get the Software OTA update again, you must Unroot the Galaxy S6 edge first, and or removed any modification that has been installed in it.

You have to choose the one that is specifically built for computer, depends on what you have either a PC or Mac.  Once you installed Smart Switch, all you need to do is to connect your Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ on your  computer using the supplied USB  cable.

2. Connect the Galaxy S6  edge+ into the computer using the supplied USB data cable.
3. Smart Switch will automatically prompt you if the update is available. Just click on the “update” then the “OK”  button to begin updating your Galaxy S6 edge+ .

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 Updates N920TUVU4DPK6, Not Nougat but still on Marshmallow

T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 recives an update to build version N920TUVU4DPK6. This is not the much awaited Nougat update yet, but still on Android Marshmallow lineup. The update brings the new S cloud performance improvements, to which allows users to automatically sync the gallery items into the Samsung cloud storage. While the Android security patches is also included in this package and  now covers November 1st.

The update is release in stages and it may take several days before it completely deployed to all T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 devices.

Verizon Galaxy Note 5 Updates to version N920VVRU3BPJ3

There is another update hitting on Verizon Galaxy Note 5 this week. The update is dubbed as build version MMB29K.N920VVRU3BPJ3 and it's still base in Android Marshmallow. However, the latter brings the latest security patches as well as optimizes the device performance, and resolve known issues, according to Verizon. So, it seems that its a minor OTA update only and there is no any other major impact to the device.

Since the previous update has brought us the September Android security patches, so there is no doubt that this update will now also brings the security patches for the month of October. Then the November security updates might be held available before December end.

In addition, there are still no credible reports to when the Android Nougat updates will arrive on the Galaxy Note 5. Noting that the Nougat beta updates was already sent out on the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge, but there are still some issues have been found and needs further fixes. So the Nougat updates might not coming for the Galaxy Note 5 this year. It might come out late on or in between from March to June next year.
