Galaxy S5 SM-G900F Update G900FXXS1CPHW Brings September Security Patch

The Samsung Galaxy S5 had been receiving the security patch updates in a monthly basis. This time around will cover the Galaxy S5  (SM-G900F) intentional version updates because some folks have had been asking "why are the're too many updates that brings nothing any changes at all". While some were also expecting that the new updates brings the Android 7.0 Nougat since it has been there around the corner.

Well, the message is clear the Samsung Galaxy S5 will never get the Android Nougat in the first place, and it will stay in Android 6.0 Marshmallow.  So we have to move on and accept the reality that this monthly updates we've received is just part of the monthly security maintenance provided by Google and Samsung.

The following are the new update for Galaxy S5 SM-G900F that contains the September Security Patch packaged.  These updates have been released within September 2016 and covered different countries across the globe.

Sprint Galaxy S6 & S6 Edge Update version [G920PVPS4CPI3,G925PVPS4CPI3], September Security Patches

Sprint is also rolling out the September security patch for their Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge line-up. The update to which comes as build version G920PVPS4CPI3 for the Galaxy S6 (SM-G920P) and G925PVPS4CPI3 for the Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925P). The update does not bring any new features to the current Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow as it is just a part of the monthly security maintenance releases. So there is not much more to tell about it as it only applies the new security patch for the month of September. Though it might have include some enhancements and system improvements but it wasn't mentioned in the released keynotes.

Additionally,  you might have noticed that Sprint has released two updates within this month. Actually, the previous released was the August Security Patches while this update is the September Security Patch that has released much earlier than as we expected.

How to Update the Galaxy S6 Edge via Over-The-Air (OTA)


This is the usual method on how to check and to perform an update on Galaxy S6 edge  to the latest software version.  This method is what we called Firmware Update  Over-The-Air and so-called as FOTA or simply OTA update. In most often cases, a notification message will be directly sent out to you by your network provider and by Samsung itself, telling you that there is a new update that has now available for download.  This approach requires you to prepare a strong WiFi connection,  and so it might happen sometimes that one did not receive any software update notification messages; (1) If and when the device is out of range during the software update roll out  period, (2) Automatic update has been turned off in the device Settings.
However, We can still manually check for the update instead.

Here’s how to do it manually:
  • From your Galaxy S6 edge Home screen tap on Apps.
  • Select the Settings gear icon.
  • Tap About device.
  • Tap Software update.
  • Tap Check for an update.

AT&T Galaxy Note 5 Receive Wi-Fi Calling, Advance Messaging, and September Security Patch Update N920AUCU3CPHA

AT&T has started rolling out the September Security patch update dubbed as build version N920AUCU3CPHA. This update is part of the monthly Android device security maintenance, to which to be release once in every month.  This update will also enables the Wi-Fi Calling, Advance Messaging support for the device. There might also some several bug-fixes and system improvements that weren't mentioned in the released notes hence the update's file size is a hefty 431MB compared to the previous released build version N920AUCS3BPH4 last month to which only weighs at 33.5 MB.

Just do the following simple steps and you’ll update your Galaxy Note 5 in no time.

Sprint Galaxy Note 5 receives the Android security patch update that covers both August and September month fixe. The security patch update is supposed to be rolled out once in every month but the August security patch haven't been released last month while the previous released is way back in July. Aside from the security patch, it also adds up some sort of improvements to the WiFi Calling Client, according to Sprint. This is the earliest September Security Patch update we've got so far among all of the rest the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, and S6 edge+ variants not only in the United States but all over the world.  Noting that T-Mobile Galaxy S6 edge+ skipped the August Security patch update last month, so this security maintenance release covers both August and September patches.

    So those who did not received the update’s notification message yet, you folks might better check the update manually either via Over-The Air update and or thru Samsung Smart Switch for PC.

    How to Update the S6 edge+ via Over-The-Air (OTA)


    This is the usual method on how to check and to perform an update on Galaxy S6 edge+  to the latest software version.  This method is what we called Firmware Update  Over-The-Air and so-called as FOTA or simply OTA update. In most often cases, a notification message will be directly sent out to you by your network provider and by Samsung itself, telling you that there is a new update that has now available for download.  This approach requires you to prepare a strong WiFi connection,  and so it might happen sometimes that one did not receive any software update notification messages; (1) If and when the device is out of range during the software update roll out  period, (2) Automatic update has been turned off in the device Settings.
    However, We can still manually check for the update instead.

    Here’s how to do it manually:
    • From your Galaxy S6 edge+ Home screen tap on Apps.
    • Select the Settings gear icon.
    • Tap About device.
    • Tap Software update.
    • Tap Check for an update.

    It will then notify you that a new update is available for download. But it also says that “Your device software is up to date“, and there is no software update is yet available for grab. You can simply choose Install now if you do so or else Install later if you want to get the update in later time.

    But if ever you might have had received this message while checking software update that says something like “The operating system on your device has been modified in an unauthorized way. Try downloading software updates using Smart Switch on your computer or visit a customer service center.”  This is a warning message that only appears for those devices that have been rooted and installed with modified and unofficial firmware.  So to be able to get the Software OTA update again, you must Unroot the Galaxy S6 edge first, and or removed any modification that has been installed in it.

    You have to choose the one that is specifically built for computer, depends on what you have either a PC or Mac.  Once you installed Smart Switch, all you need to do is to connect your Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+ on your  computer using the supplied USB  cable.

    2. Connect the Galaxy S6  edge+ into the computer using the supplied USB data cable.
    3. Smart Switch will automatically prompt you if the update is available. Just click on the “update” then the “OK”  button to begin updating your Galaxy S6 edge+ .

    T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 September Security Patch Update N920TUVS4DPH2

    T-Mobile Galaxy Note 5 will start to receive the September security patch update starting today until the next couple of days.  The update will bump up the Android Marshmallow OS to build version  N920TUVS4DPH2 from previous build N920TUVU3DPG1.  Noting that the latter haven't received the security patch update last month, so this update covers both August and September months security patches.

    The size of this update weighs at around 67 MB in size. So you cannot expect any major changes or either new features from the said update considering  that this update is too small.

    Samsung has been continually rolled out the monthly Android security maintenance update for the Galaxy S5.     For those who have a rooted Galaxy S5, you folks might need to download the G900HXXU1CPH5 stock firmware itself, as you may no longer get the Over The air update as long as your device has been modified – Galaxy S5 SM-G900H Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Firmware.  So the only way to upgrade your phone to Marshmallow is to manually install the official Android 6.0.1 Marsmallow firmware itself.     Verizon Galaxy Note 5 Update N920VVRU2BPG5 Adds Advanced Calling and new Galaxy features

    If you're Galaxy Note 5 is from Verizon then you might have also received an update today. The update is said to which will now enables the Advanced Calling support, and also brings the new Galaxy features that will also support the Barcode Beaming, and a new ways  for images and file sharing. However, the update removed the Amazon Music app, but the said app can be installed manually by the user itself thru Google Play store.

    AT&T Galaxy S5 Active Update G870AUCU2DPH2 It's official Android Marshmallow Too!

    Following the Marshmallow update on AT&T Galaxy S5, the AT&T Galaxy S5 Active (SM-G870A) isn't left behind and are now also started getting its Android Marshmallow update. The Galaxy S5 Active Marshmallow update brings very similar to the Galaxy S5. Nonetheless, only the firmware build version is different. The via Over-The-Air update came out as build version G870AUCU2DPH2 and are now heading its way to arrive on all AT&T Galaxy S5 users.

    How to Update the Samsung Galaxy S5 to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow?


    Samsung urges us to prepare the following important notes to consider before performing the software update.  I have also added some useful insights why you should follow this procedure to keep your  phone in safe.

    Recharge the phone’s battery – You should make sure your device is fully recharged before performing the software update. Do not also remove the battery during the software update is in progress.     AT&T Galaxy S5 Update G900AUCU4DPH2 Official Android Marshmallow

    AT&T carrier has finally started to roll out the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update on  Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900A). The said Android marshmallow upgrade came out  as build version G900AUCU4DPH2. This is the final and official release build hence some of AT&T's Galaxy S5 users who participated the beta program already began receiving several Marshmallow update since May 2016. During the Beta test period there are almost 3 updates have been deployed, these are the build version  G900AUCU4DPE3 (released on May),  build version G900AUCU4DPF3 (on June), and the build version G900AUCU4DPG3 to which just released last month.

    To those who haven't seen how's the Android Marshmallow update behave in our Galaxy S5, well  I'll just say it's pretty awesome. Though there are some doubts that the update might causes something like battery draining problem. The battery life performance is not one of the biggest concern since the the update itself contains the new power saving mode.     AT&T Galaxy Note 5 August Security Patch Update N920AUCS3BPH4

    AT&T Galaxy Note 5  has started getting the August Security patch update.  It's just a small OTA update and nothing any major changes, but it carries the new Google and Samsung security patches for both Android and Samsung vulnerabilities.  It comes as build version N920AUCS3BPH4 and weighs at just around 33.5 MB in size. Like I said it's one of the smallest OTA update I ever seen.

    July Security Patch Update for Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ Roundup

    Samsung has once again released the new Android update for Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, and the S6 edge+. This recent updates were part of the monthly security patch update to get rid of now recently known Android vulnerabilities.  This time around we gathered around the July's security patch update to which has now replaces the last June's released builds. Here are the list of each official software updates on all Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, S6 edge, and S6 edge + (plus) specific models around the world.

    Some of this update were initially released in late July, but in most cases the update came around in between from  first to the second week of August.

    United States Updates


    The factory unlock version of the Galaxy S6 has gotten the first July security patch update in United States alone.  This specific variant  is the Galaxy S6 SM-G920T to which identical to the T-Mobile's variant.

The G920FXXS4DPG2 and  G925FXXS4DPG2  were massively rolled out to most of the European countries. The only differences to other builds might have affect some technicalities to some countries like the G920FXXS4DPG3, and  G925FXXS4DPG3 were sent out in Luxembourg alone.     Australia's Galaxy S6 and S6 edge haven't gotten  the July Security patch update but it might receive the August Security patch update as early as possible.

    Unfortunately, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ SM-G928I has showed no movements so far, as there were no newer updates related to the July's Security patch as of this time being. It might soon arrive this coming few days, or it might also skip the July's update and are now queued to the August security patch.
