Samsung and Google has been continuously deploying the monthly Android security patch updates for the Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and the S6 edge+ Plus. Yup, this device is still rocking even though it's already gotten its  three successors, the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S8, and the latest Galaxy S9, and Galaxy S9 edge. 2018 March Galaxy Note 5 Updates With Mobile Hotspot APN Fixes

Yet another round of updates has been making its rounds on Samsung Galaxy Note 5 recently.  These updates includes the monthly Google security fix, while other variants also received various system improvements, just like AT&T's Galaxy Note 5 that have had gotten its  Mobile hotspot APN fix alongside with the Android device security updates.

This just to let you know that the Galaxy Note 5 is still rocking these days even though it has already gotten its long time successors, the Galaxy Galaxy Note 8, and then the upcoming Galaxy Note 9.

AT&T Galaxy S6, S6 Edge & S6 Active Receiving Meltdown and Spectre Migration Patches

AT&T has just recently released an update that brings the Meltdown and Spectre migration patches to their Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 Active devices. Moreover,  the said update primarily contains the January 1st 2018 security patches, as part of the monthly Android Security Maintenance Release (SMR) of which provided by Google and Samsung.

The Galaxy S6 receives a 50.1MB  software update and move its current Android 7.0 Nougat OS to version G920AUCS7ERA2. While the Galaxy S7 edge will also get a 50.5MB update that bumps the device OS version to G925AUCS7ERA2. On the other hand, the Galaxy S6 Active also move to G890AUCS7DRA2, with an update file size of 51 MB.

The rolling out starts on January 26, 2018 and may only last for a couple of days.

Meltdown and Spectre Security Updates Hitting Verizon Galaxy S6, S6Edge/S6 Edge+

In recent events that there is a new concern about the Meltdown and Spectre that also includes and targets the mobile devices data, aside from personal computers.  Luckily enough, Verizon has just released an update that brings the said Meltdown and Spectre Security Updates on their Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and S6 Edge+ line-up. T-Mobile Galaxy S6, S6 Edge, and S6 edge+ Receiving January 1st 2018 Security Updates

T-Mobile has started rolling out a new firmware update to their Galaxy S6, Galaxy  S6 Edge, and  Galaxy S6 edge+ users. The update is said to bring the monthly Android security maintenance of which now covers the January 1st 2018 security patches.  Aside form Google and Samsung  security updates, it also includes a minor bug fixes and other system improvements. Each update ere dubbed as release build G928TUVS5ERA1 for the Galaxy S6 Edge plus, G925TUVS6FRA3 for the Galaxy S6 edge, and  G920TUVS6FRA3  for the standard Galaxy S6.

Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+ October 2017 Android Security PatchUpdates

Updated on December 4, 2017: Added all updates that still includes the October 2017 Android security patches but has just been recently rolled out for unknown reasons.

Here comes the October 2017 Android Security Patch Updates on Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+. These updates includes the Blueborne Security Patches for all phones that are vulnerable when they’re connected to a Bluetooth device.

Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+ September 2017 Android Security Patch Updates

Here's another round of Android Security Updates that has recently release on the Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and the S6 edge plus.  This time, we're rounding up the September 2017 Security Maintenance Release package that includes patches from Google and Samsung.

Here comes the end of August 2017, and September approaches too past.  That means another batch of the monthly Android security updates were making its rounds on the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge users all over the world.

August 2017 Android Security Updates Hitting Galaxy Note5 N920C/N920G

For those who owns the Galaxy Note5 particularly the SM-N920C and SM-N920G models, there's a new update heading on its way for your devices. These updates are still part of Samsung and Google's monthly Android Security Maintenance Release (SMR)  that will now bump up both Galaxy Note 5's Android Security Patch Level to August 1, 2017.

In addition, the update will start to hit the Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920C in Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia. While similar thing will also happens to the Galaxy Note 5 SM-N920G owners in Latin America, and select regions in Asia.

  • From the Home screen, tap the Menu Key > Settings > About device > Software updates > Check for Updates.
  • If your device finds a new software update, tap Download now.
  • When the download complete, a screen will appear advising you that the new version of software is ready to be installed. Tap Install update.
  • The device will power down and power back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation has been completed. Tap OK.
  • One the phone reboots, you may head back to Settings > About device to double-check if you’ve successfully updated your Galaxy Note 5.

August 2017 Android Security Updates Hitting Verizon Galaxy S6, S6 edge and S6 edge+

Verizon has just released an update on Galaxy S6, S6 edge, and the S6 edge+. The update is said to bring the monthly Android security patches of which basically bumps up the said phones Android Security Patch Level to August 1, 2017. According to big red's announcements, the Over-The-Air updates will begin shortly on August 28, and might only last in just a couple of days, since these updates were just part of Samsung and Google's monthly Android Security Maintenance Release (SMR).

The Verizon Galaxy S6 (SM-G920V) variants will receive an update dubbed as version NRD90M.G920VVRS4DQH1. Similar thing happens to the Galaxy S6 edge (SM-G925V) of which will also move to version NRD90M.G925VVRS4DQH1. Galaxy Note5 Gets August 2017 Security Updates in Canada

An Over-The-Air (OTA) monthly Android Security Maintenance update is heading it way on Galaxy Note 5 in Canada. The update is said to bring the August 1, 2017 Android security patch level, while bumping the device recent Android 7.0 Nougat OS to version  N920W8VLS4CQH1.

The August 2017 Android security update contains 50 patches for vulnerabilities found on Android OS. While Samsung also around 12 patches for their own application vulnerabilities.

Samsung has started the rolling out the monthly Android security maintenance  on Galaxy S6 (SM-G920F), Galaxy S6 edge SM-G925F), and Galaxy S6 edge+ (SM-G928F) variants. Verizon is sending out an update on Galaxy S6 (G920V) and the Galaxy S6 edge (G925V) that looks similarly to the Galaxy S6 edge+ SM-G928V update few weeks ago.  This time, there a bundle of some fixes that includes in the update. According to Verizon, this release version brings fixes ringback tone playback to non-Verizon Wireless phones, and applies the latest security patches. Just right around 10 days after the last update landed on T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+, here comes another release build heading on its way.  It's seems the updates is something very similar to the previous released as the latter will also brings  various system improvements for the said device.  Even though, this update is launch in the month of August, so  we've speculated that this might be the August 2017 security update.  But however, the update still covers the July 2017 Android security patches.
